Hi .I have an old 2002 Avantgarde 400 Rl MH , and when I use the mixer tap there is a leak somewhere which I can see the water dripping down outside ,I have looked inside the vents outside but cannot gain access to the taps that way ,and cannot remove sink as it is flanged under the worktop ,it is looking like the fridge needs to be removed? has anyone come across this problem before that has any advice on this please (y)

On my sink there were four blanks inside the top of the sink. 4 screws removed and sink lifted out. Can you supply any photo's of it.

If it is the same as mine there are 4 screws around the inside edge of the fridge with a plastic cap over the Philips screw head. Isolate the gas and disconnect the gas pipe to the fridge. Remove the 4 screws. Pull the fridge forward squarely as it snags on the side. Also helpfull if you have a helper to push and lift from outside. Once clear turn to one side the wires should be long enough. You should then be able to access the underside of the tap.

Hi ,Lynnian ,thank you so much for your reply ,yes that is exactly the set up I have got .you have been a great help ,it is a shame that you have to remove the fridge just to gain access to the tap ,but that is what I have to do(y)

But, once you've removed the fridge, you'll probably be glad that you have, as you'll be shocked at how much dirt that has accumulate under it

When you say the tap dripping down the outside , is that the outside of the tap.
Depending on the tap type , a photo would help, some can be taken apart from the top.

If you haven't removed fridge don't. remove top fridge vent reach upwards and pull down zinc? plate difficult, allows access to bottom of the tap tighten locking nut

the thing with motorhome taps is that they are plastic. Most now have a replaceable cartridge inside with O rings. This can be accessed from the top without removing the fridge. Pop the red/blue plug out of the lever and unscrew the screw it reveals. Some have a grub scew at the back, some a large nut to remove the sleeve, exposing the cartridge

I did the removal with my 2003 avantgarde 300 you do not disturb the fridge and you can tape up the plate after to stop all the drafts entering

Hi TheBig1,sorry if my questions are pretty basic as i have only had MH for a couple of years ,like you rightly said it does have a cartridge fitted with a micro switch ,I think the tap is a (single lever keramik color tap ,I have popped the red/blue plug out and removed the lever ,thats as far as i have got,it seems to be dry all round the top of the still inserted cartridge ,does this mean the cartridge isn't at fault before i remove it? or if it is faulty would it leak from the bottom ?again sorry for the lame questions as it is all newish to me ,thanks for your help in this (y)

they can leak from the bottom of the cartridge, where the pipes enter, nothing lost by dismantling and finding that is not leaking. Just reassemble with some silicon grease. If the leak is from under the worktop, it is likely the joint of the pipes into the tap. Some are a push fit locked in with a plastic pin. This will leak every time the pump runs, not just when running that tap

I had a problem with the swivel part of my tap leaking, took it apart and treated the seals with silicone grease.

I don’t know what make tap you have but the one in my Hymer was a Reich tap and the spigots the pipes fit to are held in by a pin, if the spigots are not pushed right in they could leak

I doubt it would be the pipe split and yes jubilee clips are ok.
not sure of pipe size but I would have thought 10 or 12mm

Thanks Manic ,you have been very helpful (y)
Hi Manic ,sorry another basic question :oops2:I see that on most of the posts that the connection to the tap is push fit ,is that a special fitting or can I just connect the pipes by just shoving the pipes on too the tails whether it is 10 or 12 mm by just heating them up a little and adding a little little potable silicon grease ,and securing with jubilee clips ?:thanks3:
