Fridge not working on gas

Why don't you just take a core out of the wall where the screw is located? :giggle:, not.
Mike

Any chance of a photo of the wedge fitted please, :pray2:
Mike
Sorry Mike, checked photos but deleted as now sold that MH. I have previous threads on this and there may be a photo there.
The wedge is only a small one. Just enough pressure on connection. Place it between connection and unit. I used a small plastic wedge but anything will do. As I said, Dometic Engineer suggested it.

I've tried everything. Three options: 1. Live with it - can't do. 2. Sell it - can't afford a nearly new Dethleffs Pulse i6651 DBM. 3. Remove fridge and get at the flue that way. Apart from the four screws on the inside of the fridge, what else do I need to know? Big thanks!

I live in Pembrokeshire. The Dometic Engineer I used was from Caliam Caravan Services. William Close 07980310126

He is mobile but you may have to meet him half way after the lockdown as he lives up Swansea way I believe. He was brilliant and not expensive

Thanks Mr Toady! I'll give him a call! Where are you then? North or south?

No worries. As I previously mentioned, you may have to meet this engineer half way. Worth it though and he may sort out a big headache and save you money.

That's not as crazy as it seems. Why would they make something that needs routine maintenance so inaccessible. I'm tempted...

Have you tried holding a mirror at the top angled down so you can see the screw?
Did that. Great idea. Almost got the driver into the screw head but realised I had no room to turn the screw.

Disconnect gas and electrics at the back.
They are normally fitted so tight it is easy to damage the cabinet getting them out.

The screw only goes into thin sheet metal I'm wondering if you could just force it out with a chisel on the head.

And when I've done that, will it just slide out? Is it really that simple?
No, as I said they are a really tight fit you need some big and heavy pushing from the back and you tugging and guiding from the front.
Taking it out is a last resort.

Sorry Lenny, I missed the second part of your original reply. Sounds like it's got to stay in then.

You mean the grub screw holding the T piece? it's a thought.

It's been suggested that I could blast some air up the flue to try and clear any accumulated debris. I have a good compressor. Any thoughts on this?

But if you do try to move it forward there are screws securing it at the front.

Better just to use a bottle brush, won't be able to clean the baffel without taking out out from the top.

all the component you pictured are working or you wouldnt have a flame. as the fridge works on the other fuels it has to be something in the flue ways or your flame isnt big enough,.can you hear it roaring from outside?

my tee piece is in the same position as yours and i got mine undone with the ratchet and bit method maybe soak the screw with a bit of penetrating oil and then try again tommorow you need both hands to hold the bit in and turn

Remove burner clean from bottom. You may dislodge a baffle, not to worry if you do leave it out its not needed

I had same problem in Spain bad gas from garage. Van only six months old baffle dropped out ho s... T I thought spoke to Dometic wis kid at caravan show six months later he said the baffle was to reduce noise but made little difference when left out. So no need to worry fridge still ok six years on. I clean mine every year this way

At the suggestion of another, I took the burner off and blew air through flue - bottom to top and top to bottom. No debris came out in either direction. Re-assembled burner and... surprise, surprise, no change. Spoke to an incredibly helpful Dometic engineer. Explained everything to him and what I'd done. Said if I took it to him he'd do all the things I'd done. Doesn't think it's the flue. More likely the jet - which is new. We checked the part number (KZ16) which is correct. I'm beginning to think that not enough gas is getting through. The MH is level. All other gas appliances are working fine - or at least there's a flame. Could it be a faulty regulator that's not delivering gas at sufficient pressure for the fridge but is sufficient for the Truma boiler and Thetford oven/hob?

Fridge needs far less gas pressure than the oven or hob, so I don't think it's the regulator. Could be the gas valve on the fridge, not uncommon for them to fail.

The flame does not roar and any noise it makes is barely discernible.

I have tried for a couple of hours to get the right-angled ratchet screwdriver on to the grub screw that's securing the flue T piece. I nearly got on to it but then realised there's no room to move the ratchet even it I can engage it with the screw head.

Would that be this item Lenny?
