I'm a newbie
Generally what type of coupling will I need for fresh water connections, especially on French Aires
Would you recommend a 12v submersible pump for filling the tank from a carrier and keep a watering can as a standby.

I live in Rural France, every year I get, with my water bill, a water quality report. It lists any metals, chemicals etc. I can with confidence tell you that the mains tap water quality throughout France is extremely high. Safe to drink anywhere, in town or country.

Often when you get a bad stomach it's down to personal hygiene, not washing your hands after going to the toilet, or someone prepping your food who does not wash their hands, or poor food hygiene in general. Storage, refrigeration etc.

The article I read states that nitrates and chemicals used in farming find its way into rivers etc which are a potential sauce from which some water companies (not all) primarily obtain their water. It stands to reason that an area high in farming, both agricultural and animals the raw water will require more stringent treatment before reaching our taps. Water treatment plants are not cheap to run and if they suffer cut backs like many other industries then water quality may well be compromised. Every now and again where I live in the UK I experience a strong taste of chlorine but if my water board started handing out annual quality reports I would be very suspicious

Judging by how many blokes walk out of public toilets having never washed their hands, your last sentence is very relevant.

As with so many things what suits one person won't suit another. We tend to move every day or two never carried a watering can and never missed having one as we move a lot we drive to a tap and use a hose if others pitch up for a few days and don't want to move a watering can would be a good idea. As what we're talking about is generally fairly cheap take both if theres room and if hardly used for a season dump stuff although I wouldn't fork out foe a aquaroll and 12v pump unless it was cheap (aldi do a copy)

It's not only blokes that walk out of public toilets never washing their hands

My only absolute rule is to never trust a campsite or Aire hose. I have seen what people do to them and where they put them.
