Just a reminder that the law requiring snow chains, snow socks or all-season tyres, which came into force in November 2021, allowed a period of 3 years for the use of tyres rated at M+S (Mud & Snow) rather than the 3PMSF (3 Peak Mountain Snowflake) symbol.
That period of tolerance comes to an end on 1 November this year and the penalty for non-compliance is €135.

If you have 3 peak tyres, do you need chains/socks as well or is that optional?

Thanks
No, just tyres rated 3PMSF. Anything else is optional.
I've just had a set of Michelin Cross Climate CP fitted. Initial feeling is that they are very grippy, so should be ok.

How much did you get them for? Currently shopping around for 3PMSF tyres and can’t decide what to go for…
