We are currently in France and would welcome any advice on the best place to buy a 100 GB data chip for use in a mobile phone during our time in France.
Many thanks
M and P

Try a big supermarket, some have seperate shops inside them for phones.

If you go into any of the large Eleclec supermarkets they sell “ Reglo” 100gb data SIM cards. Very cheap last time I bought one. Ask them to register it on your phone for you and it will save you doing it afterwards and perhaps wrestling with the French language.

Reglo mobile, you can get a sim in a Leclerc supermarket,

I have used them for years, they use the SFR network, not quite as good coverage as Orange but covers most places, 5€ for the sim plus whatever package you want to use, you can also easily swap between the different offers at the end of the current month.

We have used Rego as well found them very good. You must get it registered at customer services they will want to see your passport and need a French address, the nearest Aire will do for the address.

I'm glad you put the in store info living here i just order them on line, so wasn't sure what you do in the store.

Thank you very much everyone for your replies., much appreciated. We will go to Leclerc and get one.
Kind regards
Pam

We used reglo on our last trip and will use again, very pleased

We have used the Free.fr ones and find them very good. If you go into Dieppe there is an Auchan Supermarket the other side of town. You can buy a one month sim which you can top up online or a continuous sim which automatically renews but you have to send a registered letter to cancel it as required by French Law. Have done it a number of times and it is not difficult.
Edit pressed too soon. The whole thing is bought with a machine but there is someone there to help. The last time I bought one they put the supermarket address. You can also Extend it at another kiosk in France in the same sort of machine.

When I bought mine I had payed for the sim and what tariff I’d chosen at customer service, driver license and used a an Aire as an address but when I came to use it I couldn’t get online.
On the home page I had to set up a payment, I didn’t do this because I thought I don’t want to pay again but I had to set it up to get online, we used it for 2 months and near end of second month I changed the payment to zero.

Has anyone else experienced this please?

You didn't used to work like that, you could just load credit, but I think it changed a few years ago. I suggest making sure it works before leaving the supermarket, at least then you should be able to connect to the store wifi to register a card. Also if you think that you will be returning to france again in the near future, you could just reduce it down to the 1.95€/ month, to keep the Sim and number.

Thank you.Do you know if the chip is for France only ,or whether we would be able to use it when we eventually arrive in Spain ?
Thanks everyone for your help with this, much appreciated.

It’s mainly for France but would work with limited data in Spain, I’m not sure how much.

Latest ts and cs translated by google (attachef), the answer is you will be covered by the same package in another eu country subject to reasonable usage (last time I was in the UK it also appeard to work fine), which i understands means you need to use it in france for more days in the month than in another country. Eg if you do 7 days in france, then go to spain, after 15 days in spain they will badger you about reasonable usage, so you either have to return to france, or possibly face being charged for your access.

Another thing to bear in mind, if you dont go for a more expensive packages that include international calls, you will be charged for an international call.

Eg if you are in france, you will get charged for calls to english mobiles, or for instance a call to spain.

But if you are in another country eg spain, it allows you to ring spanish numbers as part of the package.

11) 2 GB in the “€1.95” package, 6 GB in the “€4.95” package, 11 GB in the “€5.80” package, 8 GB in the “€6.95” package , 11 GB in the “€7.80” package , 11 GB in the “€9.50” plan, 11 GB in the “€9.80” plan, 14 GB in the “€12.95” plan, 15 GB in the “€13.50” plan, 16 GB in the “€14.80” p

So it looks to me as I would of had 15gb as I was on the €13.50 tariff

I like the fact they have different tariffs for 4G and 5G so if you’re device doesn’t use 5G you don’t pay the higher rate.

The time and effort folk have taken to help me with this is fantastic. We are very grateful, thank you

Hi, sorry i was looking for that section and couldn't find it, so i am a bit confused when to comes to the fair usage bit. But unless you are streaming videos it still gives plenty of data for most people
