Did our first trip to France & Spain last year, which was mainly a ‘find our feet’ trip.

We happened upon Playa de Cocedores which was fabulous. Two soft sandy beaches, one with a small, shallow sheltered bay, the other long and wild, both sharing two beachside restaurant's. Parking was literally overviewing both beaches.

We would love to find more like it when we travel this year.

There are lots but it does depend on time of year, there's a lot of stops that are tolerated in low season but enforced june to September etc. Tarifa beach is a case in point where the height barriers go up.

Weve just had a few days on the Beach at Vera with about 100 other Mhs but wouldn't expect to get away with it in Summer.

As we are going April to end of May we will be following this thread with interest.😊

We will be going from end of April to end of June 👍
There's quite a lot on S4S P4N and the others, best bet is to check the reviews out and have a couple of fall back plans and be aware of the risk of getting fined.

It would really help the cause if people who wanted to do it had the brains to carry a spare casette and use laundries for their washing.

I'm sure that you are aware but just in case.... Didn't even think about taking a motorhome into Gibraltar:LOL: the narrow roads are a nightmare and I didn't think there's anywhere to park up overnight legally. We just did a day visit in a Nissan Micra hire car and my wife's fingernail marks are still on the seat cushion!
Plenty of parking next to the border and then walk in, with passport of course.
Gib looked a bit faded and tatty to me this visit, good prices for booze however.

It's a long while since I've been to Gib BUT I recall that the route to Morrisons (UK foods, cheap fuel) was quite reasonable.
It is but the car park isnt very big.

Blowing a hooley in Gib this morning

Some years ago Julie and I flew into Malaga on a cheap easyJet deal (free, just paid for the taxes)!

I hired a car and drove to Gibraltar for a three night stay, and couldn’t park up quick enough as the streets were soooo narrow, even for the cheapest of hire cars.

Almost certainly, it will be busier now than in the summer months.

When we went last year (mid-April to first week of July) we found most places pretty quiet.

One of the busiest was Playa de Cocedores (in June) but it still had plenty of room.
The free parking in Cordoba near the zoo (late May during the festival) was quite busy but still had spaces.

It seemed one of the best times to go, those over-wintering have started to leave and it’s a bit early for the Summer season.

For further reference regarding the weather: The first week we were in France and half of it the weather at the Bay of Arcachon was so good we stayed for four nights. Then the following week it was raining constantly in Northern Spain. When we were in Cordoba it was soooooooooo unbearably hot we left a day early!

Great, free, beachfront places that we saw last year (when we paid for campsites)! Both in really attractive, small towns.

Sanlucar de Barrameda: Massive, long sandy beach
Oropesa del Mar (on a headland): Huge, wide horseshoe beach one side (no parking) and a long promenade the other side followed by a looooong sandy beach (easy parking)

Are you sure about Sanlucar? Thought that finished a long time ago. El Puerto de Ste Maria beach was still going last year.

Was there while the parades of horses and carts were crossing the river by ferry. Saw a few isolated motorhomers in the streets at right angles leading to the beach, central to the town, westwards from the ferry.

There was a beachfront avenue leading to the westward edge of town that appeared to be closed.

El Puerto de Ste Maria

Great place to stop at outside of Cadiz with the regular ferries to and from. We were there for 4 nights last year and had some good evenings with other like minded travellers. Regular police patrols doing the rounds, so felt really safe as well.

We were in Gibraltar last October and no problems whatsoever. Even found an overnight stopover.

Not in the Med it's not.
most of western Med will be around 16-17c. I used to scuba dive at that temperature and thats too cold for comfort. Has to be at least 22 for me.

My point was more. Many People park up by the beach, dont use it, dont walk it, dont even look at it. So many nicer places inland and many with panoramic sea views.

Our first time to Spain last year I was expecting it to be all about the beaches. However, we visited loads of mountain and inland villages and we loved them. In fact, we enjoyed them more than most of the beaches we did visit.

This year, we will do some more inland villages but would also like to visit some worthwhile/better beaches than last year (like Playa de Cocedores).

We did a big shop in Morrisons Gib last year, the Spanish border guards took it all from us. The same rules as here.
Asfaik its the only place its actually enforced.
