We will be travelling to France (Calais), Spain and then Portugal. Any suggestions on route would like to stay away from large cities.
Many thanks Peter

I would suggest you give some deep thought about what you would like to see and do on your tour. To do all three countries, even if pretty specific areas to visit, would take at least 8 weeks. Add to you post and you will get better advice from those who are happy to spend the time replying

As a general rule we do 8 weeks at a time, have somewhere in mind of an ultimate destination if we get that far but are prepared, and do, stop along the way if we find somewhere we like. We are happy to stop anywhere along the way including capital cities etc.

E.G. we once stayed 5.5 weeks at Lake Garda when our thoughts had been Croatia and another time we travelled from the Italian lakes 600 miles to Perpignan to escape the rain, and we did šŸ˜Š

How long are you going for ? Search for sites app or similar is a must. I would also recommend Camping car parks app. Itā€™s a one off payment of 5ā‚¬ for life and we find it extremely useful. As we never have a definitive plan and always drive until weā€™ve had enough then check for stopovers, those apps will pay dividends. Some free Aires, some a modest charge will apply. We tend to head for areas we fancy, but if you have time take a 3 day stop at Puy du Fou near Cholet. You will be amazed. ( look it up on line)
