France Passion

stay in places that tourists would never normal find.
And that’s half the problem often a France Passion can be difficult to find even with so called coordinates, very frustrating when they are off the beaten track and then difficult to find.

I think with the constant takeover of aires and charges being put on them France passion could be on the verge of a comeback, £30 is only two nights on aires now.

If you are looking at FP to save money, that is not what it was set up for. You are taking part in a mutually beneficial social arrangement. If it works for you, it's worthwhile. You get to experience life in a new or different environment. You are a guest. You might have to travel miles finding an out of the way location. There is often little choice where you park. There may be noxious smells or noises. Facilities can be at best basic. If you are adventurous that can be part of the fun. If not stick to campsites. We found one FP on our route to my son's place in SW France. It has given us a great deal of pleasure over the years. Until Covid affected the owners. Unfortunately. Very few have we returned to. But when you look at the thousands of pounds your hobby has cost you, 30 or so euros is small fry.

I love France Passion, and think it’s certainly worth the joining fee. The new app with GPS Co ordinates makes it really easy to use and the user-reviews mean that you know what to expect. I love being able to meet growers and people who are enthusiastic about their local areas and to stay in places that tourists would never normal find.
We’re in exactly the same camp with you - FP is perfect for us!

One of the biggest factors in choosing any place to overnight is how you react to certain stimuli. The total silence one day, an amiable farmer the next, the fun of sitting around a table encouraging teenagers to practice their English (while being astonished a how tasty simple food can be) on another, and countless other experiences when we have said to each other “Weren’t they nice” all commend an FP stay.

Then that has to be balanced against a 100m walk for a beer in the evening and bread in the morning, plus maybe a laundry or a visit to an intriguing feature ( here I commend the bell foundry in Villedieu-les-Poêles) which all argue for a less rural stay.

As in all things a balance works best.

But FP produces the stories to tell, it seems.
