France - bank holiday this Thursday. Campsites and Aires full?

At 9am this morning, there was a queue waiting to get on the site. Opposite us each of the 2 pitches have motorhomes on, 2 cars and loads of bikes. I think there are 12 people, oh, and not an Angles morts sticker anywhere. Only the Brits and Germans seem to have them.

Thanks all for the advice and reassurance! We found a lovely site in the end at Blagny - Domaine de Sery - via the Park4Night app (we had phoned a few other campsites but they were full!). Liked it so much we stayed for 3 nights 😄

We ( 3 ladies in campervans) arrived in France on Saturday and have meandered down to the Loir river (not the Loire!). We are on a lovely municipal site, very quiet (only us 3 and a caravan currently here!). It’s so peaceful and quiet with great facilities that we have decided to stay for a week. We are at La Chartre-sur-le-Loir and found the site on Search4Sites. - Camping du Vieux Moulin. Good cycling in the area and walking distance to the small town.
Beware though the site manager can talk ‘the hind legs off a donkey’ if he isn’t busy!! - great guy.😁
Had to laugh at this as we were on this site around three weeks ago and found as you describe it with the warden following us around at every opportunity and wanting to take us to a fete taking place in a nearby village. He was fairly new to the site and we helped him out by getting his washing machines going - which was easy as the instructions were in English!
Really nice place with shops for fish, meat and bread. Good food at the Hotel de France in the village. Enjoy (y)

Thanks folks.

We were hoping to book into a quiet rural campsite for the first night, as we don’t arrive in France til the evening. We’ll be tired after a long day travelling and wanted to just know where we are going to stay the night as we didn’t want to try to have to drive around trying to find a space.

Any suggestions for a searchable online booking website for French campsites?
Plenty of Aires along the motorway, just pull in to them and park up. Really safe and some are in really lovely locations, quite a shock sometimes being as they are off the motorway. Also, many villages have designated motorhome parking places. We once parked up for the night at a petrol station. Although I slept with the dog as I was scared someone would break in and take him :X3:
