Please excuse me if I’m just repeating previous blogs.
Just about to purchase our second motor home after a 8 year break and I’ve heard that many aires in France now have entry systems which can only be accessed with tokens , is this correct ? If so can anybody advise how one obtains these tokens please
Regards

I know that there are mixed views on here, personallyI cannot understand why anyone would choose to spend a night in an air..... we were in France last month and cycled around the area, there were several Aires, but at a cost of 15€ per night..... we were in a lovely campsite with all the services at ( with ACSI) 16€ per night. and as for driving around to look for a free stop...... get a life !!!
You obviously didn't or havn't done much research on Aires, otherwise you would be aware that many are free or just a few Euros and in places you would not otherwise visit if you only stayed on campsites, it's not all about money. I agree there are mixed views but do you really think it's acceptable to tell someone who takes a different view to "Get a life" it's insulting and uncalled for. Sill, at least everyone knows they will be well away from you if they stay on an air.

Am I right in assuming that camping-car parks and aires du service are totally different places and not the same thing?.
No, CCP Aires are part of a commercial group, whereas most, but not all, of the rest are run by local authorities. Think of Caravan &Motorhome Club sites, they’re campsites, but part of a specific group which tries to standardize facilities.

TLDR, we live in france and have only encountered one place that we needed tokens, just download the app and pay online, just took us a couple of minutes to gain entry

Obviously you have never seen or been on a proper Aire, we have been on maybe hundreds in twelve years and although you are right that some now charge I have never seen one anywhere near 15 euros, the dearest we have been on is the one that is the dearest and that is at honfluer at 12 euros but there you are paying for the ambiance of the place.
And just why you would be driving around to find an Aire is just silly, you get somewhere you like the look of, get park4night up on your phone and it will tell you numerous places around you then with one click will guide you to the gate.
Mostly free but nowhere near 15 euros.

Why the insult ..get a life!!!
Just because someone has a different view to you, that's what we like about our motorhome life, do what you want to do ,but don't criticise people who have different ideas. Let's be nice to each other.🙂
