Forgive me father for I have sinned

whats an FLT ?

And to be fair, 13.50 ain't too bad for everything as now a lot of Aires are getting towards 10 and having to pay extra for other stuff, but this is only the start.
It’s only money Chaser, enjoy it. Ian the builder would have been proud of you spending some money.

Had a similar problem in Bilbao once - circus in town and everywhere full and pouring with rain and being frightened to death by the guardia saville and their machine guns when I mistakenly pulled into their carpark. I would have paid anything for a nice overnight stop.

Going to honfluer tomorrow, never seen that full, but that is twelve euro but we like it.
Maybe even have a dear meal in the square (y) ;)

If by square you mean around the inner harbour, yes they are expensive. We found an excellent restaurant in a small square walking down an alley away from the old port in a SE direction but not far. Sorry cannot remember name. But half the price.

Had a bit of a nightmare, decided to have a look at la toucat , the racecourse was having some events on so was closed, the marina was full,so tried a few off park4night but either rubbish or full and fed up of seeing camping car interdit ,moved on without seeing anything of the town, anyway moved down the coast a bit , merlimont, and saw camping car, and it turned out to be a ccp, ok, close to small town and about 500 yards off the beach.
So Julie jumps out and gets signed up  and so we are here now, 13.50 euros all in.
You’ll have to come home now you’ve spent all your money….🤣😆😉

Just pay the money, and if you like seafood or fish go to Le Vieux Honfleur on the front, menu’s a bit limited but take in the ambience and enjoy a bottle of wine with your meal whilst people watching and looking at boats, it’s a great place, that’s the point mate. Or walk up the hill and have a cheap burger, tons of places, I love it there. Enjoy(y)

There was plenty of space at Honfleur when we were there on 29th April. They now also have marked bays so you have more space between vans.

Any pics of the CCP you are on chaser?

we are heading for honfluer but if we see somewhere nice before ,we might stop somewhere else.

This was the first "Aire de Camping Car" we ever set eyes on Charlie. Pre MH days, we were in the B&B hotel just up the road.
It is just east of Honfleur and a nice little village. Don't know how noisy the elevated road would be but it is the southerly approach road to the Pont de Normandie.

Give us a clue where your heading, if down the coast, try the cheese shop at Saint-Valery-sur-Somme for lunch. There’s a decent aire at the top of the town and a short walk into town. You get a bottle of wine with a plate of different cheeses and meat (matched to the wine) It seems expensive or was, but it was so good we ordered another, well worth a visit in my opinion, lots of history and a pleasant ‘Prom’

What have you done?

Sold a tractor to buy a spare engine?!!🤣🤣🤣

I didn't realise what CCP stood for in previous posts. We have been on a few in the last couple of weeks, not seen another Brit one any of them. We had to change our plans due to a mess up with the dogs I CAD registration so we have needed to stay put for a couple of weeks. It's been so hot that myself and the dog needed a good electric supply to keep the fans going. Himself is still in a 13 tog sleeping bag with a fleece liner!!

Makes you wonder though when you compare the two, we are in this one in fecamp, completely free , got emptying and water, very short walk to either town, beach or marina, on tarmac, the CCP was sort of a gravel carpark in the middle of nowhere for 13.50 although it did have electric if you need it.

Why are some people so opposed to paying a few quid for a one night stopover? I genuinely don't understand it. Funsters, by and large, are generous folk and would give you the last glass from their bottle of wine, so why do some baulk at paying a bit? These places have to be serviced and cleaned, and someone has to fund that.

Not that it affects me. We nearly always use proper camp sites because it is what works for us.

I think its a transition for the more experienced and travelled Funster, traditionally Aires were free they were never developed for payment that, comes through the spend in the vicinity of the Aire as most know but if you have travelled for years and years enjoying the kindness of the host Village or Town there's a natural resistance as to why.

The French in particular resist paying and are most often the ones to drive away. I was in Millau shortly after they started charging and witnessed the French resistance they actually spannered the Barrier off, quite entertaining.

Times change, a charge for staying on Aires will increase with eventual acceptance.

We used that aire about 4/5 years ago, didn’t notice the road noise but when I’m tired I don’t notice anything

Its not the paying, it's the paying for something you don't want, when far better places are free.
People are trying to get free Aires in the UK and yet in France it seems to be going the other way.
Btw the CCP site we were on the vans there were almost all french.

Fair enough.
But as more and more places start charging, will people pay it or search for a free place? Sounds to me that the free places will all be taken early, leaving people with no option than to pay.

After all you’ve said chaser 🤣🤣🤣
Have a great trip though and hope it doesn’t spoil the rest of your hols

What a lovley day to stand in the middle of the the car park and shout in a loud voice viva la brexit then take in the anbiance
