While waiting patiently for new Adamo, have been on some FB Groups and it seems there is a concern with the Ford Transit later models with water leaking into the engine well and frying the electrics. Apart from Bailey, there are a number of Transit based vans - has anyone had this issue and was it a problem getting it fixed?

Light rain overnight and I’m parked up slightly lower on the offside so not all water has drained out but it shows water that would have been on my injectors!

Nope, wouldn't touch your injectors especially if you maintain the cleanliness of the scuttle by clearing the holes at each end.

But hey, everyone loves a good myth.

My scuttle is completely clear. This water was sitting in the tray after it had rained

How can the injectors rust in place? they're made of aluminium have an aluminium injector rail and are fitted into an aluminium head. They are also buried under 6cms of rubber. Aluminium doesn't rust.
My mark 7 has aluminium heads & part injectors but the top part that the clamp retains including the male pipe thread is cast iron as are the clamps

This is my number 1 injector & the one where the water would lay when it rained or you washed it or even just using the washers .it runs down the windscreen ,under the plastic cover over the metal tray & drips straight on to the head through the holes for mounting the windscreen motor for right hand drive
Yes there is corrosion in aluminium but the oxide protects it, there is no very damaging galvanic corrosion due to contact with other metals - there is no other metal, which is what this whole story is about and has been for well over a decade.
are the injectors different on the mark 8 then?

I don’t pretend to know anything about engines. All I know is that my 4 year old mk8 van went into limp mode and when the AA man came out and opened the bonnet there was a strong smell of diesel and also diesel on the ground under the engine. The number 2 injector had completely failed. I was informed it snapped on removal due to corrosion. I asked about the other fuel injectors and I was informed that they were showing some corrosion due to rain water ingress but weren’t as bad as the one that failed. I made the decision to get them all changed as I had lost confidence in my van.
I have since fitted the metal tray, made by Rob Drew and have checked under the bonnet a few times now after rain. Each time there has been water sitting on the tray. The rain water is getting in despite the scuttle drainage holes being completely clear.
So I have had 4 corroded injectors and have also seen for myself all the rainwater that is getting in under my bonnet.
I know from personal experience that it is not a myth that rainwater is getting under the bonnet even though I know naff all about engines.

I have extended on the left and right skuttle drain trays which directs the water further into the wing voids. I have also siliconed between the screen and the top of the plastic skuttle unit. The water still manages to lay on top of the air filter housing so improved but not totally cured, so possibly a latent issue further into the ownership. Its the only issue in 16k miles relating to the base vehicle which other than above has been faultless. I meet lots of transit owners through my line of work and the feedback has always been positive with lots of vans getting up to 200k in 3 years with only servicing carried out to date. If anyone has managed to cure the water ingress though, please share as to how.
Put 20mm pond tube down side wings attach to deflectors with cycle inner tube. Seal the windscreen over Skuttle some have used gorilla tape but found tape half adhesive to stick to windscreen and overlap Skuttle. To solve other water coming in from wiper blade used Rob Drew’s tray expensive but works
