Ford based motorhome thefts over the last year. Please report

AFAIK being stolen from is a bigger issue than being stolen although both happen.

This looks way too easy to me, my Sil has one of these as a works van and the first thing he did was add extra locks. IMO Ford should be sorting the security out.

btw can't see the connection with Brexit.

Friends who live just around the corner from us had theirs stolen 18 months ago. There were lucky someone on Facebook spotted it in their road about 2 miles from where it was taken from near an illegal pi-key camp. They got it back undamaged.
Comfort were insisting on Ford's regardless of valve require a tracker.

Forgot to add, the best answer for any coachbuilt is strap/chain the doors together IMO.
Would be nice, but on my new to me Freddy (Ford) there isn’t a hole in the door handles to thread a strap or chain through.
I could invest in one of those bars that hooks from window to window ledge but I have blinds fitted. Cannot even fit Thule locks due to blinds. Might invest in new door locks. 70A17B4C-5D39-46CC-A974-838594935244.jpeg

I used a couple of Cabin Hook catches (ignore the hook part) screwed to the inside of the door to fit a cable between the doors

I like the look of these locks, depending on price of course. If “they” want your van, no amount of security will stop them. I love my Ford. :roflmto:

I had an attempted theft at services on M62. They were seconds away from getting in and must have been disturbed.
I was planning on having the locks changed but hadn’t got around to it!

You can see the lock had been twisted. Now with the new lock.
When I was insuring it they insisted on a tracker.

Nice to see the actual answer to this thread is that no one has had a mark 7 or 8 ford nicked........................I brought a ford, brought a wheelclamp and steering lock. it is still here! although if someone does nick it, i have my eyes on a few nice A classes so silver linings and all that!

I am without being in anyway flipant, sincerely sorry for your losses. My post was in no way designed to minimise the awful loss of a vehicle.

I was honestly asking as there seems to be so much misinformation around. I wish you the very best of luck and kind regards
Paul
But were they motorhomes or vans/ minibuses. I'm like you we have a ford I actually know someone who had a ford based hymer nicked but the rate seems quite low and certainly not as high as the doomsayers recon on here. I think (tongue in cheek) they don't nick Fiat's as they aren't sure if all the recalls will have been dealt with!!!)

As my old Dad used to say :You die eventually if you spend your life worrying, you die eventually if you are not a worrier, SO Why Worry!

No offence taken!
You asked: "Are Ford locks known to be insecure?"
I confirmed; "Yes, they are widely known to be easy to open"

So what? It's so much easier to open any of the habitation windows. It's a bit like fitting steel bars to the house front door and then leaving the back door open.

There's a world of difference between a white van full of tools and a motorhome full of nothing more than travel guides.
