For those of you who travel to France - are you now bilingual? 😀

I scraped a "C" O Grade for French, years later, my niece had the same French teacher as I had and when he found out, he said mine had been one of the worst accents he had ever heard, but I've always managed fine in France. On a trip to the F1 at Magny Cours with 3 workmates, I had to do all the comms. We breakfasted and got packed lunches at a bakery near our digs and I struck up a rapport with the staff. The other lads were well impressed, but I said in all honesty, I probably sounded like Officer Crabtree off Allo allo to them !

A few years ago whilst we were parked up somewhere in France, an old guy in, what looked like waders, but were in fact green overalls, wandered over to where we were sitting at a picnic bench finishing our meal. We offered him a glass of wine and chatted 🤣🤣. From somewhere my almost 50 year old French (one year at school when I was about 14) came to the fore. I, much to Martin's amazement, asked how old he was and then steered the conversation to his chiens! Another word I could remember, a good job he didn't have goats or cows!!

The wine broke the ice, I think 👍🏻

We could understand a fair amount, relating it to Spanish.

I thought it was called that as you can eat the whole thing, no need to peel. Don't you have them in France ?

LOL .... Yes of course we have them, they are called .... let me think... Mange-tout!!!
And yes green
bean picked up before mature so you can eat it all

Par définition, un haricot mange-tout (Phaseolus vulgaris) est un haricot qu'on récolte avant sa maturité, quand sa cosse est encore jeune et tendre, sans fil.

I've got my own personal tutor to teach me my basic French, she's very good.
I did try to learn Welsh but it ain't much use in France, saying that it's not a lot of use here as most speak Polish

LOL.... We have them both here : Haricots mange-tout and pois mange-tout
No idea what is right or wrong and honestly don't really care, as long as it's eatable! ;)
