For all you techies out there, charging Solar battery station (generator) of b2b already installed?

Hi friends, question I’ve seen 2 adds for charging battery power station off vehicle battery with engine running, via this type of gizmo, £277.00 , how is this different from a b2b charger, with own rigged leads, or am I missing something.
I won’t ignor thread but can’t reply until evening.

You're right, that's exactly what it is, a B2B charger. Its output is designed to charge the Bluetti power station.

The basic problem is that a car cigarette-lighter style socket can only supply a maximum of about 100W to 150W. If you want to charge at 500W or more, you need a better connection to the car electrics. This Bluetti charger can be permanently wired in to the altaernator/starter battery, with its own fuse.

If you wanted to move it between vehicles, then you could install Anderson connectors on each vehicle, which will be OK for the high current (over 40A) that the charger will take.

If you want to use another B2B like the Victron Orion XS, you would need to find out what voltage and amps the Bluetti power station requires for that charging mode, and see if the B2B an be set to the appropriate values.

Could I not fit a dedicated plug direct from my battery with its own fuse and correct wiring and charge off my own b2b.
Cost would be minimal.

Also what's the advantage over using an inverter from starter battery and original mains charger.
I understand the inverter has to be efficient ~10 % or less..

I don't know what the battery voltage of a Bluetti battery is, or how many amps it can take. If you knew that, you might be able to adjust the B2B to the correct settings. Great care is needed, I think, because I think the lithium battery pack may not be the safe LiFePO4 type used in motorhomes, it may be one of the other technologies that can go badly wrong if charged with the wrong settings. Not worth the risk unless you can find out the details, and even then it's a risk.

Also what's the advantage over using an inverter from starter battery and original mains charger.
I understand the inverter has to be efficient ~10 % or less..
The AC charger I've seen is 1440W. If you powered that from an alternator via an inverter it would take about 1440/12 = 120A. That's OK for an uprated 200A alternator. However a standard alternator, 120A or 140A, would be overloaded I think, especially if it's charging the starter battery and running the lights, wipers and other vehicle electrics.

If they did a lower power AC charger, say 800W, then that might be a good option to use via an inverter while driving.

Again thanks, I obviously misled you by stipulating the Bluetti charger, I was just using this item to highlight my query, I don’t own the Bluetti, although your information is still very relevant, I’m thinking of getting the EF delta 2, or the Fossibot1 200, and I understand you can adjust the input watts, I appreciate your info regarding pulling 120 amps, I don’t know the rating of my alternator
