I feel a lot safer in the UK on motorways using the left hand lane as mostly the traffic is moving at the same speed and the majority of users are nose to tail in the middle or outer lane!

They are probably more interested in safety.
M5 near Gloucester today. Lane 1 driver on a perfectly good motorway doing 40 mph In his own world without a care. Lorries having to pull out to overtake. Should be prosecuted and then assessed for ability to drive.I feel a lot safer in the UK on motorways using the left hand lane as mostly the traffic is moving at the same speed and the majority of users are nose to tail in the middle or outer lane!

My son's advice to me when visiting him in New York was. Never use indicators when driving in the city. It gives other drivers an unfair advantage. And fail your test. You can indicate as much as you want to but on a test you would fail for unnecessary indication.
So true,,often get 3 HGVs on 4 lane motorways side by side overtaking,,takes for ever as they are limited.Honestly think on 4 lane motorways HGV s should not be allowed in lane 3,,and as an HGV driver since 1966,now retired I am not biased.BUSBY.HGV indicates to pull out and 9/10 car drivers speed up so they don't have to let you out....retards!
Middle lane hogger sat there at 50mph, you're up their backsides trying not to lose momentum when eventually they shuffle across to the slow lane but, you're trying to get past them at 56mph and they speed up...retards.
Apparently the UK introduced legislation to make middle lane hogging illegal but I've never heard of anyone getting nicked yet.
Highway code clearly states keep left except when overtaking. There are some shocking drivers out there.....none of hem have Funster stickers though
Coming down the A12 last week there were lots of cars trundling along at 50-55mph with trucks having to pull out to overtake.M5 near Gloucester today. Didn’t the charge used to be ‘Driving with undue care and attention’.M5 near Gloucester today. Lane 1 driver on a perfectly good motorway doing 40 mph In his own world without a care. Lorries having to pull out to overtake. Should be prosecuted and then assessed for ability to drive.
When I did my IAM they would fail me for indicating where there was nobody to see the indication on the basis that if there was no-one around then I had failed to observe the surroundings and was only indicating as a matter of habit. If another road user came into view then an indication was requiredMy son's advice to me when visiting him in New York was. Never use indicators when driving in the city. I agree 100%. In my sector of transport (abnormal loads etc) the vast majority of inconsideration comes from other truck drivers. The drivers of old are no longer about unfortunately. A large majority of truck drivers today are just numpties who really haven't got a clue, your example highlights that.So true,,often get 3 HGVs on 4 lane motorways side by side overtaking,,takes for ever as they are limited.Honestly think on 4 lane motorways HGV s should not be allowed in lane 3,,and as an HGV driver since 1966,now retired I am not biased.BUSBY.
Our saying was there are Drivers and Screwdrivers,,,I think you are correct regarding HGV driving standards,,just cannot believe the road positioning of many of them,,not many seem to realise you need much less room when truck is in a straight line and not weaving in and out of parked vehicles..BUSBY,,I agree 100%. There is no courtesy amongst drivers nowadays. When i fisrt started driving artics in '85 an old boy once told me "There's drivers and there's drivers" and there ain't many left. Ask a driver to handball a load or even tie a dolly and all you'll get is some blank looking eastern European stare back. Automatic trucks all computerised.. it's just a sign of the times unfortunately.
You're not missing much, only the odd lorry actually flashes you in or acknowledges being flashed in now.
