Fogstar battery problem

What are the voltages per cell? And can you change any advance settings?

It could be that the BMS is giving an incorrect reading as to how full the battery is.

Have you measured the voltage across the battery terminals with a multimeter since the discharge switch has been put back on?
Good thought, its higher but with Li its got a very poor relationship with Charge level, can be quite high with very low charge level

3.06,3.08,3.06,3.05. Can only change settings that have values already, and this changes a bit on each access. Upload is very slow, probably incomplete. Home Screen showing 16A capacity. Thanks

Have you emailed Fogstar?
Yes, gettin replies but last indicated they were puzzled and contacting BMS maker

Taking the terminal voltage reading, you could divide the answer by 4 to find the average cell voltage and compare that with what the app says.

Not good enough, how long you had the battery?

Since May. Worked apparently ok until now. Unusual thing tho was voltage at 100% charge always showed 13.3 or so.Would have expected higher if settings/BMS was set up well. I never accessed Advanced as didn’t know code until recently. Fogstar sound helpful and reasonably speedy with replies. I was not on the case yesterday so was a little behind in sending them screenshots. Updated them this pm so hopefully tomoro will tell

I had a problem with something I bought from Fogstar earlier this year and I found them to be excellent in resolving the problem.

Update. Becs at Fogstar sent mail offering exchange so they could test it. Ive replied asking about arrangements for this but not got a reply yet. Hopeful so far.

They promptly replaced it. It seems that it is a bluetooth interface problem reading advanced settings. they have checked the BMS settings directly and they are normal. Very happy with their handling of it overall.

I spotted few settings are wrong, as : under voltage protection set at 2.2v. That’s wrong, and potentially destroy the battery. Minimum should be set at 2.5v.
- balance starting voltage 3.3v, that will unbalance a already balanced pack. The voltage should be set 3.4v min with 3.45v better.
-cell full voltage 0.03v? What? Should be set at min 3.55v.
- charging under temp protection not set, why? It should be set at 4C.
-discharging under temp release -140C ? That should be a tad above -20C

There’s many more, those settings are well mangled up, I amazed the battery worked at all. Sooner or later would of stoped.
Contact Fogstar and ask them for a replacement, that bms looks that’s gone south, or lost it’s settings.
- I like this one
Charging over temp protection set at. -221.7C. Should not exceed 60C, a55C it’s better.
Hi Raul,do you have a copy of the correct settings please, my battery is not charging correctly.

Hi Raul,do you have a copy of the correct settings please, my battery is not charging correctly.
Post you settings and I can advise what settings are out. Each bms has a different order but all do the same exact thing.
If you post yours, I will follow each setting as it comes, and correct the values where needed.

Hi. Rodger RogerIvy at off-grid solutions does a good YouTube video explaining the battery settings it's worth a watch, but I'm sure Raul can sort you out with the info also,he knows his stuff.
Hope you get it sorted .
Cheers Cris 🍻.

Right, first picture has few settings that can be made better

Setting 2- Pack UVP 10v way to low; why? If it catches the battery discharged and a light imbalance, you risk cells to go below 2.5v. The pack sum is no guarantee of equal 2.5v cells. Advise to change this value to 10.5v to allow for imbalance

Setting 9- Charging UTP Release 10C; way to high, if you deep bellow 4C and activate low temp protection, then you will be waiting unnecessary till temp rises to 10C to resume charging. Advise to change this to 5C deg, as this will be enough safe to get few amps in; then the battery will naturally warm from inside as it charges.

Setting 11- Discharge OTP 65C to high; this should be kept same or closer to charge OTP Advise to change to 55C. If temp probe picks 65C, the cell inside and the bms will be already higher.

Setting 11- Discharge OTP Release 60C to high, same explanation as above; this release value advised to be changed to 50C.

Second photo looks ok
