Hi
attached are the current App readout of my 280Ah Fogstar. It is behaving as a dead battery. It will not allow charge however, just flashing transient cell under voltage. It also will not allow activation of discharge, more understandably. Victron charger shows no current flow when on, its on Li setting. Ive included the factory set advanced settings (1st time Ive accessed it and not altered anything). Multimeter reading from terminals is 1.6v!!!. Dont know if that’s accurate in a shutdown battery however. Moho control unit behaves as if its an under voltage battery and electrics work on ehu.
Is it possible to reset BMS App. To allow charging.
You may notice the small POV (pack over voltage ) warning icon is on although voltage level is 10.3v!!?? Does this make sense?
Any help from a Fogstar experienced user appreciated.
Ill be in touch with Fogstar tomoro but advice before then will stop me thinkin too much. Major worry is that Factory settings were insufficient to shut down at safe level but I cant think of a 280A drain on an unused x weeks vehicle
thanks

Sorry attach. Didn’t go 1st time

If you do a search on here for fogstar ,there was a thread not long ago about them going to sleep when lack of use.

I spotted few settings are wrong, as : under voltage protection set at 2.2v. That’s wrong, and potentially destroy the battery. Minimum should be set at 2.5v.
- balance starting voltage 3.3v, that will unbalance a already balanced pack. The voltage should be set 3.4v min with 3.45v better.
-cell full voltage 0.03v? What? Should be set at min 3.55v.
- charging under temp protection not set, why? It should be set at 4C.
-discharging under temp release -140C ? That should be a tad above -20C

There’s many more, those settings are well mangled up, I amazed the battery worked at all. Sooner or later would of stoped.
Contact Fogstar and ask them for a replacement, that bms looks that’s gone south, or lost it’s settings.
- I like this one
Charging over temp protection set at. -221.7C. Should not exceed 60C, a55C it’s better.

Who is responsible for this settings? Is this how you received the battery
?
Yes, the advanced settings are as delivered. Is there an issue with them?
Thanks

How did you manage to gain access to the settings.
On my app these are lock out.
Code is 6 8s. But be careful re warranty issues. i only accessed out of desperation.

Very informative post as I also have a 280ah Fogstar battery that when I received it was only at 9ah, it being now only 2 months old doesn’t fully recharge. It is dropping points is an ah over the last month, today I have found that my mains charger has maybe tripped as I’m down to 245ah , just looked and it’s charging again. 😳
The max it’s charging to is 278.3 but my Fun neighbours is going to 280. 🤔
Think I might need to call Fogstar.

Hi Bigtree. I run 2 x 105ah drift fogstars and have read that LifePo’s should not be left full or empty ?? But mine read 105ah 100% full and the Van has been parked up for a month.
Even though I have switched off “Charging” it still stays full, but we haven’t yet used tv etc.
All My individual Cell voltages are 3.30v.
Sorry I can’t assist, but they are a great Company to deal with so don’t fret till you have spoken to them tomorrow.
Dave or Lindsay will help.
Good luck mate.
Mitch

I don't think any lithium will fully charge on a non lithium setting if on hook up. I know mine doesn't on LA setting, but it gets pretty darn close it's usually around 98/99%, so about 3Ah short of full capacity of 394Ah. Usually the solar or alternator puts that bit extra in to fully charge, which it then shows as the full 100%!!

Charge & discharge need to be turned on otherwise I don't think it will charge, I wounder if the advance settings are reporting incorrectly because it can't receive a charge.

As Raul has pointed out, a lot of settings have incorrect values. A lot of settings also don’t have any values when they should. It’s a complete mess.

It’s showing 5 cycles so I assume it must have charged and discharged a few times.

The battery is just over 10v, empty but still capable to power the bms and Bluetooth.
The settings are stored as they are displayed.
Other values may change as the battery takes charge, but the settings are set and probably password protected. Even full acces bms like JK, or others, you can read th settings but not change, until you type in the password.
I think that bms was not set properly, or has developed a fault and lost it’s settings. Even so some settings are set ok and still there, so I think Fogstar will either change/reset the bms or replace the battery.

This is what is currently showing on hook up. 🤔
And we have been out for the night.

It wont allow me to activate either. A transient “cell under voltage “ comes up when I try.

What do you see on the next screen, Cell voltage?
Yes. 4 adding up to about 10.3v which is correct. What puzzles me is the small warning icon POV as 10.3 is under voltage

Worked perfectly as far as I was aware until This week. I had left it for a few weeks without checking app. Last normal reading was 275Ah and I don’t have any draw to flatten it in that time to my knowledge

Cycles has gone from 5 to 2 🤔

I assume the battery went to sleep and has now woken up.

Have you checked the parameters again to see if they have reset?

I think you have two posters mixed up. Sorry if not. Ive still got the same scrambled mess

Thanks, I’m in contact and getting replies promptly. App reinstall not working. They agree settings are bizarre hence the app reload. Still absent or weird tho. Hoping

update; Ive been regularly checking settings on app (advanced). Oddly they are different every time but always bizarre. Upload is slow and maybe incomplete. Also oddly the charge and discharge will now activate, capacity showing a rise from 0 to two A. over two mins with a 30A charger so its probably accurate reading. Ive disabled it until I know its safe and BMS is properly functional. Big question is does Li battery recover from this level to a satisfactory lifespan.

It could be that the BMS is giving an incorrect reading as to how full the battery is.

Have you measured the voltage across the battery terminals with a multimeter since the discharge switch has been put back on?
