I'm a newbie, but owned a caravan about 30 years ago.
We're off to France for a month next year and I'm thinking whether we should fit a safe somewhere in Bessie.
Bessie is a 2008 Bessacarr E560.
What are your thoughts, and if yes - where to fit.
Any response much appreciated.

Those cheap keysafes and small keypad operated safest are easy to defeat. There are even instructions on YouTube.
Fit something with a key deadbolt.

We have a Safe fitted by Hymer, we use it for passports and excess cash, whilst nothing is impenetrable it gives peace of mind.

I use a milenco clutch pedal lock which does two jobs, one protecting the van and I also use it as a safe to keep valuables in when we are away from the van

I made a hidden section in one of my upper cabinets. It was ideal for passports, cards etc. Just a bit of hassle emptying the cabinet if I needed access to the hidden items.

Because I had made the cabinets myself, the hidden part was actually between the floor of the cabinet and the decorative panel below the cabinet, ie. the items were hidden within the framework.

These are nowhere near as smart as people think they are. Burglars know to pick up things like cans, bottles and books. In a second they'll know it's not soup.
In my van I have about 30 tins of soup.

By the time they've picked up all of those ill be back
