first trip to spain

Works now. Thanks for that - looks a good route to Twin Lakes as well.

Hi,
Have a great time. The N332 runs parallel to the motorway for most of the coastal route through Spain. Although slower you get to see more. We will be on Camping Lo Monte, in Torre De La Horadada from mid March to June, good rates for long stays and a nice area,

We used this route last year when we went in March/April. Paid some tolls to avoid heavily congested areas, but the rest was free.

We took our time going down and stopped when we felt like it because we were in no rush. Stayed at Aires at Neufchattel, Moulins and Aniane on the way down. They were all different but all good for us. You will find few if any camp sites open in France that time of year. Once in Spain we found a lot more camp sites were open so used ACSI sites from then on. On the way back through France we stayed again at Aires in St Andre, Le Cheix, and Wissant on the way back.

The main problem you will find in February is that some of the higher roads, like the A75 we used through Millau, may be closed with snow.

many, many thanks for all the helpfull info getting very excited about the trip and, wow what a fab forum.

another question I have no knowledge, is the male connector for hook up leads the same in spain as uk or will we nead an adaptor.
many thanks in advance.

It depends upon the site. Some use the same blue connectors as us. Others use standard 2 pin plus earth indoor type connectors (as in France), which you will need a short adaptor lead for. As to polarity that can be very hit and miss on the continent because over there it is not as important because their switches operate both live and neutral.

Here at www.camperstopsierraespuna.blogspot.com we use Spanish 2 pin, if you buy an adaptor that accepts your UK Standard 16 amp that will be fine, you will get loads of use from it. Buy in the UK, and make sure its the type that will work in France also, the 2 pin plug will have a hole between the pins, this is to take the earth pin, the Spanish one earths on the outside contacts. If you buy in Spain SOME ADAPTORS MAY NOT fit the French style.
