First time top up of AdBlue

Who'd have thought a simple basic top up of a liquid would evoke such a response.
One learns so much more.

But whatever you do, don’t try to fill the airspace with carbon monoxide. It’s a flammable gas and very dangerous.

Just don’t see why anyone would buy a 5-10ltr jerry can, then have to buy and carry a specific funnel and then to risk still spilling the stuff.

Forecourt pump all the way 👍🏻

Just download an app showing which nearest gas station sells Adblu and then use that, nearly always cheaper and far easier😁

Are you the type who only fills the washer bottle when it doesn't work? Then Adblue isn't for you.
Like your washer fluid bottle it should be topped up weekly or less.
what makes it chystalise in the vehicle - as opposed to in the shop or garage?
exposure to air
If you keep it as full as possible, there is less room for air and therefore less risk of this happening.
This ^^^^
I use one of these manual pumps. Pick up tube into the AdBlu container and the delivery tube into the filler cap. The delivery tube is narrow enough and long enough to open the valve.

Bought in Gamm Vert in France where they are used for moving wine from one container to another.

That's expensive 1€ or 1,50€ tops here
Until I started reading this topic I thought AdBlue was a trade name for a specific make of a generic additive needed for modern diesel engines.

I am now coming to the conclusion that is not the case as I can find adblue sold with brands like Carlube, Status, Crast and Halfords to name but a few.

Some have the registered trade mark symbol AdBlue® and some do not.

Some reference an ISO standard number (ISO22241-1) and some do not.

Some say suitable for a adblue vehicle (whatever one of those is) and some do not.

So, what are the differences and which is best for 2022 Fiat Ducato?

And, the other question, any to avoid?
Called Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)in the USA

Should read carbon dioxide!
(By-product of the engine exhaust, non-flammable)
Was just commenting on your post #11 which stated monoxide, which is flammable.

Carbon dioxide, as you have just stated correctly, is not flammable. (y)

What on earth made you think that.
Experience. 😡😡

Even my Mercedes independent specialist says they aren’t fit for purpose and the worst manufacturer for adblue systems failures.😳😳

It mainly chrystalise round the sides of the adblue tank as it’s used and empties. Then when you refill it the chrystals mix with the adblue and then goes through the system, and over time it can damage it. Best to top it up regularly.
