First time motorhomers Swiss road trip

Ca2468. As well as Richard's advice above re a vignette for up to 3500Kgs, if over 3500Kgs you can purchase a 10 x day pass at the border entry point, or online, valid for up to 12 x months. It must be completed daily, even if not travelling.

Sorry, but unable to advise on stopovers, as we just used Switzerland as a through route to Italy, avoiding Austria's extortionate Go Box charges, ie rip off.
Our overnighter in a car/lorry/coach park in Lucerne was expensive enough, never mind staying on a campsite. :(

Good luck and enjoy. 👍

Jock. :)
The 10 day pass is no longer available

The 10 day pass is no longer available
Is that because the process is online now, or because there is an alternative to the 10 x day pass?
I have to say that for our group who were just transiting Switzerland whilst heading for Italy, it was the cheapest option for us all. 👍

Cheers,

Jock. :)

There is no equivalent to the 10 individual day pass, minimum is now 7 consecutive days.

So if only transiting, we'd have to buy a 7 x day pass each way? 🤷‍♂️

Cheers,

Jock. :)

We did swizzled last June , Calais down to Germany then crossed into Switzerland via Basel then into Zurich, wife and daughter wanted to visit Lint chocolate factory + it’s ( free day motorhome parking ) we stayed at campsite on lake Lucerne 31c lovely - Interlaken - Bern (st Bernard museum)
- martigny - great st Bernard pass very snowy in June , but mountain roads fairly clear with appropriate tyres etc no problems . - exit was via Lausanne / France but Calais,
We stayed in campsites but it was expensive ,
But you know this before hand so not unexpected,
You get the odd free park up but not many .
We planned a two and half’s week tour down to Switzerland and back, but a lot of mountain train rides we had booked on we had to cancel, as our St Bernard dog was taken ill and she had to have emergency surgery and that was only on our 2nd day in Switzerland 😬
Ps make sure you have good ( pet insurance ) .

But we still had a fantastic time and scenery was unbelievable .
Enjoy you won’t regret going 👍.
