First non electric pitch .

Dont even bother taking the electric cable with us. Even when we pop into an ACSI site with free electric included we dont hook up as I would have to remember to take it out when leaving.
80 days is our record, admittedly Southern Europe in summer. Only 2 batteries but I do carry the little portable solar chargers the size of a mobile phone which are good for 3 fill ups of a phone or wo betide the vaporiser running out

These guys are popping up all over the UK for laundry facilities at Supermarkets, Garages etc same company across Europe.

They are launching an app so you can pay by phone and not need a tonne of coins to pay at the machines.

If you have a moho with a 3 way gas fridge, gas heating and solar panels you should be good. If you have a compressor fridge and diesel heater then even with solar you can be pushing your luck with a long weekend. A compressor fridge can use most of one 100ah battery full in 24 hours. A chunky B2B will give you welcome options should you need them.
Living on the Pembrokeshire coast finds me taking our Electric Vehicle with us when visiting off-grid campsites. We can use the car to visit the beaches with limited access, or the odd trip to the supermarket or home, but by ‘Plugging’ the MH into the car, I can run the MH, with compressor fridge, for many weeks. Just an idea for those with access to the ever increasing acquisition of EV’s.....🤷

That's a good idea , never thought of that, is there a specific plug or just the cig lighter.

I use a pure sine wave inverter clipped to my 12v ‘starter’ battery. This then automatically pulls power from the 30KW main ‘drive’ battery. I’m not recommending this, I am just saying it works for me! 😊

Just booked our first trip on a non electric site .

The river location looks great and there is a pub that does take away food right by the entrance.
I am a little nervous about not having EHU but have invested in a good off grid set up that should be more than enough for what we require. I will post some pictures of the site when we arrive .
They allow open camp fires ( designated areas only )which we have never had a chance to do before .

We have never had EHU in 11 years, except when we have left the MH at friends while we flew back home for a few weeks. We do not carry an EHU cable.

Once parked up at honfluer , all the posts well populated, but didn't bother as we don't hookup anyway but we were next to a Belgian guy, and he insisted we had got to hookup as it was in the fee and he just wouldn't take no for an answer.
So he proceeds to get in his garage and roots out a splitter and a lead and hooks us up.
Didn't have the heart to tell him we had no mains stuff in our van, but at least it charged the battery a bit.
You meet some real nice people at times in this game (y) (y):giggle:

Hi Clive, all a bit technical for me. We don’t have solar panels but the heating / hot water can run of the diesel or gas. The fridge can run on the gas and the lights are led. The dealer told us that we should be ok for a couple of days but I guess having the van ticking over (as long as it doesn’t annoy anyone) should keep the battery topped up?
Be careful idling the engine to recharge batteries. Modern Euro 6, even 5 diesels can end up with problems. Lots of other threads around on this subject, but unless the entire engine get's fully up to temperature, something achieved best by proper driving and revving, the DPF and other systems can get choked up. . Yes some emergency service vehicles are left idling for periods, but they have usually had adaptations to deal with that.

I agree with you.

That is the reason we have a B2B, which suits our needs, because we do not usually stay in one place for more than 2 nights.

If we had to stay longer I would run the engine but somehow prop the throttle open at 1200rpm, but it would only need 15 mins. with the B2B to get a day's charge in.

But we have a Euro 3 engine and exhaust so no worries about emissions systems.

We full time in our van and have just started our 7th week off grid after being clipped in for the winter Period. Just as well really as the monitored electric on the site we have been staying on works out to be very expensive. We have a very healthy battery bank and 4 x 130w panels.

Another peg in the Feedom Camping jigsaw?

Waste solids (rubbish).

On or off grid makes no difference to me, I am a Cardiff resident where waste management if user friendly. A black bin/bag for real rubbish and a green one for all recycling, no sorting required, one bag and the sorting is done by the recycling company.

So I bring all my rubbish home. Green bags stowed in the garage, I don't have black waste.

I do not use the onsite rubbish/recycling disposal if available, it all comes home with me.
