Converting a boxer
Exp
Hopefully October 2024
Hello I'm Marie, Married to Ben
We are converting a boxer, Started in January this year with plans to head off into the sunset by March  (what were we thinking)
7 months later we are about 70% done and its looking more like a camper now.......Never again
I'm sure it will be worth it, I hope it will be worth it. Kitchen drawers are being fitted today, It must be going well as there's no swearing to be heard!
Only just found this site, Wish I had found it earlier

Hi, good luck to you both. You will get it done and this is the most helpful site by far. Crack on and enjoy

:hiya:w2f

It'll all be worth it in the end and you'll soon be out and about in your bespoke camper 😉

I planned to do our own van build before we retired but before we could find a suitable van our retirement was brought forward considerably.
Wanting to make use of our retirement and start our travels we realized building a van would eat into our time so we bought a van conversion that had most of our requirements already built into it.

Wise move, husband retired just before starting the van, he's on unpaid overtime every night, he might consider going back for a rest!

Welcome Marie and Ben. :welcome3:

Good luck with build. I'm sure we would all be interested to see some pictures as you progress.

Since we're up North we thought it would be a good idea to do a shakedown trip nearer home incase of any problems and to see that everything is working as it should be 😊🤞

Welcome aboard. The very best of luck with never finishing it off as there will always things that you want to change. You wll become very proud of what you have achieved.

When I 'escaped' from fulltime employment in 2004 aged 56, we had just purchased a dealer stock ordered 'New' VW Transporter and were looking for a converter to build to our spec. Needles to say I bit the bullet and started to convert it myself. To cut a very long story short in the intervening twenty years to today I have converted four more similar campers all on new base vehicles and having used them personally for a few years sold them on.
For personal reasons our current camper was converted by a local converter to our specification not by me although I am embarking on a number of modifications to it!
Here is the last one that I did myself.
