Firestick4k £29.99

Neil S found this on t'internet.

On average, Low-quality audio streaming uses 0.72MB per minute or 43.2MB per hour. Normal quality is typically 160kbps. Normal-quality music streaming uses 1.20MB per minute or 72MB per hour on average. High quality music is typically 320kbps.

Also this in a previous post.

HD quality video is between 720p and 2K (remember, the app adjusts the stream). HD-quality video uses about 0.9GB (720p), 1.5GB (1080p) and 3GB (2K) per hour. UHD quality video uses a lot of data. A 4K stream uses about 7.2GB per hour.

Thanks for your informative reply
So I would probably use about 5.5-6Gb a day
Don’t think there is any providers that will supply that amount of data per month on contract which I would require .

I'm amazed there's anything that good to listen to on UK radio each day! :giggle:

Neil S is the data usage for abroad or in the UK?

If in the UK there are some good unlimited deals around, otherwise it would need to be a local top-up abroad once you have exhausted your UK based allowance.

If you can get a couple of limited phone deals (ie up to 150gb pcm) then you'd be okay - we each have100gb deals with Vodafone @ £8 a month after cashback - I haven't checked what's available now, or of course for Black Friday, so something might be suitable.

I think there are a couple of 2 year 100 gig Vodafone deal with mobiles.co.uk and fonehouse just now

Yup, Fonehouse have a Vodafone sim giving 100gb data, unlimited calls & texts, cashback by redemption, £18 pcm = £432 - £204 cashback = £228 which is the equivalent of £9.50 a month. Its a bit more expensive with Mobiles as it comes in at £10.00 a month after cashback of £192.

We have the same contracts with Fonehouse but fortunately snapped them up at £8 per month.

The lite is minus some TV remote features

Even cheaper at Tesco .

Lite version £19.95

Good find.
Odd that they’re able to be 4p cheaper than Amazon 😳

I don’t know if it’s worth 4p to have an Amazon device start off already in the host account device list rather than add it. 🤔
If the Firestick is your 2nd internet capable device that 4p gets the WiFi on the new device ready to go.
But adding a new device from scratch isn’t hard 👍🏻

My 4K Firestick with subservient lady TV control has just arrived from Amazon, in its nice shiny Orange Box. When I work up the courage, I will endeavor to unpack it later today, read instructions, probably swear at it a lot & myself.
TinaL will likely remember an errand she has to go on, so it will be just me and the tech support team, consisting of Bobby the cat.(y)
I have got very good at remembering how to re-pack things in the order they are crammed into small boxes, for return to sender issues.:whistle2:
Wish me luck.

Is it your 1st Amazon device? After the first one, later devices are simple as wifi setup can be pulled from your Amazon account (if you let those be stored).

No kevenh its our second one, the first one is still plugged into the back of the tele, covered in dust, and the remote control for it will now be anywhere!
Our boy bought it for our xmass pressie years ago, he paid for the amazon prime subs for one month, then let it lapse, we never bothered with it, even with Kodi set up, as it was too slow, and the quality was not that good.
So here we go again, but in reading your comments, I am expecting a better performance this time, as we have prime membership (not that that is a requisite) so we will see.
Then we will see if I can get to work in the vans Avtex TV, but one step at a time eh?
Thanks.

Mine arrived yesterday ( was due on 2nd December) to an Amazon box , 1st one, seemed to set up easy enough, just have to remember the log in details for iplayer and the like.
Loaded the downloaded and the Cinema.
I had it plugged in it’s mains power supply whilst setting up and tried it in the Finlux tv usb and it works fine.😊
