I know it's not awfy fancy, but Brodies of Moffat is really nice. (They do a lovely Afternoon Tea). And the C&CC site is right next door. Plus it's a great wee town for a stroll around.

Gleneagles is out, we have both been to a wedding there, many years ago.
do love moffat, will have a look, afternoon tea though lovely won't cut the mustard, but hopefully far enough away for BIL not to insist they go home. Bev Ralph-n-Bev should also have a good idea of a nice place to go.
Wasn't aware of Andy murray's place, will have a look it may be the motorhome parking and overnight stay for them wht will be a problem. Thanks all for the suggestions.

Just looked at Brodies and found a hotel nearby, am running it past my sister for her thoughts.thanks all for your help.

Inver restaurant, with flat parking where they welcome campervans & motorhomes. Ate there 2 years a go and want to go back again.
And #80 in the UK according to this list:

Markman have had a look at Inver, would be great for John and I but BIL is a 'plain eater' so would struggle, can't imagine hiom liking either the bothy or shepherd's hut accommodation although i suspect sister might love it
