Filling water when closed

Does anyone know what happens if you fill the water when the dial is set to closed (or zu, as mine’s in German)?

I mean the water for the water tank; taps etc. I have this stiff tap thingy by the filling hole.

The guide says you must turn the dial to open (or whatever it is in German).

Auf being the other option to drain it, or say Auf Wiedersehen (Pet) to the water.

It sounds like your talking about the round wheel knob on top of fresh water tank. If it is, keep it closed when filling, only open when you want to drain the tank.
