Just got my motorhome last week and decided to go for a Safefill bottle. Went and filled it at my local Morrison's, all fairly straightforward apart from being asked to park my electric car on the other side of the forecourt to the LPG pumps because of risk! Didn't bother arguing ...

Anyway, went back there today to refill it and got turned away. The guy behind the till said they don't allow cylinder refills, it needs to be 'attached to a vehicle'. I tried arguing about Morrison's partnership with Safefill to no avail. He phoned his manager who also said no. He said MFG have taken over the Morrison's petrol station and they don't allow cylinder refills.

Really cheesed off to say the least. Apart from the wasted journey it leaves me wondering where I can refill my cylinder. The next nearest on mylpg.eu is 13 miles away but that's another Morrison's so may well have the same issue.

Has anyone else had trouble filling a Safefill?

Try and find an independent site near to you
Before I invested in new Gaslow bottles I made sure I had an indie locally, Morrisons are getting out of LPG

I’m afraid it’s Calor to blame. Loads of scaremongering and lobbying.

If you can find someone with a brain, the secret is ‘80% cut off’.

Good luck. I’ve put a filler on my Landrover with a pipe inside!
Simples.

Nanniemate may be able to help with other South Wales outlets that are not Morrisons.
However, it is a shame if they stop as Morrisons Cribbs our normal go to.

Where did you hear that.... more scaremongering possibly!! .. our two local Morrisons (MFG) one has recently had new gas tanks fitted and the other new pumps fitted all within last couple of months..

Its not Calor to blame! Its the people who try to refill a Calor (or other non refillable bottle) that are the root cause of stations refusing to fill free standing bottles (even proper refillable ones).
Now that Morrisons are part of the MFG group, their policy for LPG filling makes the future for safe fill bottles not look so good.

Local Flogas depot also told to refuse stand alone cylinders re fills. Someone abused the system with a cheap Chinese bottle adaptor (on a standard bottle) and overfilled........

Ever since lighting was by Calor gas.
Removal of LPG by Morrisons has been planned for the past two years, ever since MFG was granted permission by the CMA in June '22 to start removing their LPG pumps as they were 'not commercially viable'.

Thanks for the replies all.

I could put a filler bracket/nozzle on mine but really didn't want the faff. I don't expect to be a heavy user, but the price difference between LPG (even at Morrison's!) and calor made a Safefill seem worthwhile. I'm tempted to just drive up in the motorhome and connect to the cylinder

When you say an indie bubble63 are you suggesting there are LPG suppliers who aren't on mylpg.eu?

Ystrad Mynach is a bit of a trek for me Nanniemate but thanks for the response.

I've had a reply from Safefill themselves who say they are in discussions with MFG Group. Let's hope that produces a positive outcome.

No, not really , near me there is a taxi company and a 4x4 dealer that have an LPG pump so if MFG/Morrisons give up LPG I will go to an independent company 😊

The Safefill website still proudly displays Morrisons as a refilling partner. I have filled up a few times at Bristol Cribbs without an issue. Can you all keep posting if sent packing with a Safefill at a particular Morrisons / MFG garage
