Hi All,

Looking at buying a new FIat Ducato campervan. The dealer does all warranty work but not servicing of the vehicle.
Can anyone recommend a reliable Fiat Professional Service Centre they have used in or around the Newcastle upon Tyne area or a reliable service centre (as understand they don’t have to be Fiat Professional) as long as they use Fiat parts.
Never had this problem in the past as have always had VW’s with good dealer on the doorstep who did both.
Have been searching but no luck so far.

Thanks
Mark

They don’t get good reviews, I’m still searching for a good garage but unfortunately not much around the Newcastle area.

Thanks
Agree - I travelled to Adams Morey in Portsmouth so get the correct work done on the clutch fluid change!

I've used Carlisle for a couple of warranty issues as they are my closest Fiat Pro Dealer. Each time they have taken over one month to get me an appointment and when I arrived at 08:00 on the appointment day, I was told that they will get to my van sometime, but it may be as late as 16:00. They do stick to their word on keeping up you hanging around, as it seems fixing trucks is more lucrative for them. Last summer Carlisle were quoting 2 months to look at an air con problem under warranty, Blaydon were the same timescale, but I got significantly better customer service from NETV at their York branch.
I have not used NETV for non warranty work - maybe their customer service would be better when you are paying a lot of money for their service..
I don’t doubt what you’re saying but it wasn’t my experience when I had engine management warning light come on and loss of power on our 23 plate Pilote . I phoned them the day the fault appeared which was a Monday
They said bring it in Thursday morning and leave it , and we had a call to collect late Friday afternoon .
Back in 2021 my previous 19 plate Fiat based Pilote had a recall and again it was dealt with within a week after the initial phone call

That is good to know that NETV can pull their finger out when you have an urgent problem. When I queried the long waiting time for a booking, the receptionist told me that at Carlisle they only take two Fiat bookings per week, hence the long lead time to get any work done.

I was told similar - hgv seems to be their mainstay of work.

As one of the advantages of a motorhome is that they travel well😎, who cares where it is as long as they are excellent in their job, so why not have your services in Portsmouth at Adams Morey, like so many others it seems that they are worthy of your hard earned🤷🏻‍♂️👍

Wouldn’t use NET in Carlisle again, I booked in with them about 6 weeks in advance, phoned the night before to confirm all ok. I was told yes bring the van we have you booked in, turned up and they said they weren’t sure if they’d get to it today, seemingly loads of breakdowns, after an hour they told me I had two choices, leave the van and they’d try and get to it in the next week or so or bring back the following Friday and as a good will gesture they’d do a diagnostic check on a different issue for free. Another day off work drove down had the part replaced and told the diagnostic didn’t come up with any issues on my TPMS which had light on, took it to local garage who found over 30 alarms/faults going back 8 months. NET obviously didn’t look and just told me they had, ended up going to Glasgow to Motus and happy with their service.

The warranty as standard is 2 years. The vehicles first service is due in 2 years or 30,000 miles (Or there abouts - can't remember precisely) , So for the standard warranty you don't actually need to have it serviced.

I get mine done at a reputable back street garage that I have used for all my cars for nearly 30 years. Would rather that than Fiat professional who charge an arm and a leg and aren't necessarily any better. As long as your garage follows Fiat service schedule and uses reputable parts Fiat cannot reject any warranty claims.

Do Tyne Valley Motohomes service on their premises or use a garage a few miles away. I’ll check out tomorrow hopefully

Thanks
I know they have a 6 bay workshop & are approved to do hab' & base vehicle service, repair & insurance work. Mind you Brownhills have a huge Fiat Professional sign on their showroom but send their customer moho's to a 3rd party for MOT's.

I believe they use a third party garage at Annfield Plain or Stanley who follow the fiat schedule.
They used to but that one moved down to Birtley. Not sure if they have another 3rd party now but definitely don't see as many 'vans' from there as I used to heading to Stanley area.

I had a dire experience with NETV York after a breakdown. Local authority vehicles took priority and repair took 3 months.

Don’t mind travelling but if I need a repair like ecu or vehicle goes into limp mode then I need somewhere on the doorstep. Frustrating not being able to locate a reputable service centre close by.
Thanks

I used the main dealer in Blaydon for a few years until they tried to rip me off by telling me that I should change the timing chain at 39k miles.
I now get everything done at Graeme Reader in Hexham.

I used to use North East Truck & Van Blaydon and found them to give a good service, albeit I thought they were expensive, and there were always other motorhomes in the yard waiting to be looked at on my visits. After buying my latest motorhome from Tyne Valley Motorhomes at Burnopfield I took out a service plan with them which includes habitation, cab servicing and MOT etc all done in-house (well I say that, they actually drive the motorhome to a garage local to them for the mechanical stuff) but at least I only have to visit the one location and I find them to be very good.

Also, I see the Fiat dealership Richard Hardy Silverlink in Wallsend do motorhome mechanical servicing (I just rang them to confirm) although I've no idea what they are like.

Tyne Valley Motorhomes can service & MOT Fiat based motorhomes.
Only the habitation stuff is done on site. Mechanicals are sent round to a garage nearby. Not sure if that workshop is Fiat Professional accredited.

If taking out a service plan, ensure it does cover all that is needed in the Fiat manuals. My three year plan did the same stuff each time, whereas a more major / minor routine would have been implied by the Fiat schedule. It certainly missed the comfortmatic fluid checks which became a very expensive failure.

Has anyone experience good or bad for newer Fiat Ducato servicing or repairs nearer the Leeds area?

Yeah understand they take it to a garage, if time today will ring to find out which one 👍
Thanks

I actually visited Richard Hardy - They will do servicing but no warranty work on engine, recommended NE trucks (which haves mixed reviews)
Thanks

I also find Tyne Valley Motorhomes to be very good. I get my habitation checks done there and they even attended to some minor scratches on the cab area a few checks ago.

They still send to a local garage for MOTs.

I had a service and MOT 'done' by Tyne Valley in October and my tracker data shows it was taken to Charlotte Street Garage in Stanley. They have very good reviews on Google.

I used NETV Dunston had a nightmare with them told I would be fit in once their bread and butter customers had been seen too never again.
I now use Sherwood's Washington done servicing and warranty work and have been spot on I understand Tyne Valley take their vehicles there.
