Can anyone help resolve my problem please?
I‘m aware of the Fiat Professional extended warranty if I take it out within 14 days of my new purchase but am struggling to find someone I can buy it from.

My Dealer says they’ve registered the vehicle with DVLA and that will do the Fiat 2 year warranty and then I should contact Fiat Customer Services to extend. Fiat Customer Services say they can’t see my motorhome registered - although it is on the DVLA database - and that to extend warranty I need to contact my Fiat Professional workshop and they will do it. My Fiat workshop @ Gloucester say they don’t know about it.

I’m going round in frustrating circles and need to make the deadline.
Has anyone had a similar experience and/or got any knowledge/contact details other than the normal Customer Services 0800 number that would help me please

Thanks

When I contacted fiat professional they suggested I would be wasting my money extending the warranty, they said the warranty was designed for commercial vehicles that covered a large amount of mileage not for my purpose of 10,000 miles per year more for TEN times that .So I Left it at that .
You also get a extra 3yrs full European breakdown cover as well so if you factor this in with the extra 3yrs warranty it's a no brainer really.

It is your nearest Fiat Prfessional dealer who must do it. I would speak to Fiat customer services and tell them you Fiat Professional dealer says they can't do it, but be quick. You only have 14 days.
We did it on our first motorhome and our present one. We got free servicing with it as well!

The limited period is because the warranty has to be seen as part of the original sale. If it is taken out later UK rules stipulate it is treated as an insurance and becomes subject to FSA rules. Fiat would have to register as an insurance company with the FSA and it is not worth their while jumping through all the hoops. I guess they can use a bit of discretion from time to time where purchasers have been misinformed.
I did wonder the reason why. Normally you get hounded weeks and months after the event by others

The reason I'm tempted when I normally wouldn't have been is that with all the supply chain issues, manufacturers are sometimes purchasing components from places outside their normal sources and I've heard about many new cars with major problems. One mate has had 2 brand new BMW's fail on him and both had to be retuned. Glues and sealants are failing and a lot hushed up under NDA's etc

I just said ’You’re too late, I’ve sorted it myself’…
I'd have informed the dealer that i would be holding them personally liable for years 3,4 & 5 for all & anything that would have been covered under the warranty from Fiat, along with any european breakdown & recovery that may occur. along with the cost of european breakdown that you are now having to pay for years 3,4 & 5.

In my younger days maybe…..now I couldn’t be ar@ed….life’s too short and I’m not up to the stress.👍

Thats good - is it also recovery to the UK and also if you are involved in an accident?

I second the helpfullness of Adam Morey but they could not help with the warranty as the dealer didn't tell me about it or register it with Fiat. Simon Potter tried and then suggested I contact Milan direct but they also said NO. Its a no brainer deal when you consider the cost of any spares.
I've been very unhappy with after-sales service from my dealer.

I despair that some dealers know so little about the product they are selling. You hand over many thousands of £s and they either don’t understand or can’t be bothered to give you such important information. Perhaps they just don’t care.

Or perhaps they don’t make any money out of it themselves?🤷‍♂️

That might well be factor but it shouldn’t be. The customer deserves better and shouldn’t be taken for granted. Telling them what they need to do would take a couple of minutes and would not involve any administrative effort.

Yup. Elements of this sector are disfunctional from a consumers view point;
1)Many manufacturers get themselves into a position where their whole business model is reliant on the likes of Fiat, yet they have very little real leverage over them. Witness recent events with chassis shortages. A class manufacturers must get the chassis seriously cheap or there would be an argument for making their own, even if a number of manufacturers purchased from the same 3rd party.
2) You purchase a car from a manufacturer and can generally get it serviced from any dealer selling the same make. Try that with a motorhome
3) Most high tech purchases like TV's, mobile phones, computers you fully expect it to work from day one and for a good time after. With a motorhome, you often find yourself expecting something to go wrong from day 1 and wondering which part it will be.
4) My A class is still months away and I've already got a list of upgrades as long as your arm I need to add to the standard spec. To get a decent deal, I'm going to have to go to 3 or 4 different places but some will need to be done by the dealer (at ott prices) for me to have any hope of the water ingress warranty being honoured
Just for starters.....

You just have to inform them of what I said in post #37 that they will be held personally liable if the fail to register it. concentrates their mind.

Anyone know, does Peugeot have a similar extended warranty system?
Thanks
Yes, well they did in 2018 when we bought our Bailey. Didn't bother as our annual mileage would only be about 3000 miles a year.
Did buy the Bailey extended warranty, but found it wasn't worth the paper it's written on.

Discovered this when the 1st habitation service was due - due to an unexpected house move to over 280 miles away from selling dealer - local Bailey dealer/workshop (Lowdhams Nottingham) operate a policy of "If we didn't sell it, we won't do any work on it ". This included servicing, supplying & fitting an expensive stereo/sat nav and definitely no chance of any warranty work being done.

I'm not sure who lied/BS'd me more, Lowdhams or Baileys customer service dept.

Car dealerships are franchised by the manufacturer, MH dealerships are all independent and can make up there own rules.

Unfortunately the reason why Dealers who didn't sell the vehicle to you/me won't do warranty work they say the Manufacturers rate is far below their retail rate Dealers are a business and are geared to maximizing profits, Manufacturers don't care as they have found enough Dealers to sell their products, but, I found a Dealer in Great Yarmouth who done my Warranty work and I then gave them all my service work, and when I sold it as they helped me I made an effort and sold the Motorhome to them although I had the same offers or there abouts by nearer Dealers to me . I still think some Dealers though are short sighted, one wonders of the bottom falls out of new sales, will the
Lowdams etc. finally regret their policies

I picked my van up from a dealer in Germany on March 28th.
When the DVLA registered it 10 weeks later my Fiat Garage told me I couldn’t extend the warranty as it had already been activated on March 28th which I was unaware of, the garage said they couldn’t help but did say to speak to Fiat.
I spoke with Fiat in Italy at first and then dealt with Amanda in Albania and all was sorted.
When people say if it goes over the 15 days you can’t extend it are wrong.
Speak to the right people with the right attitude and all the facts and it can be sorted.

Totally agree Rob……but it’s pot luck if you find the right people.👍

Hit for a second time with Extended Warranties.🤦‍♂️

We were looking to change our car in the summer. Now we’ve got the van we decided on a smaller car, so ordered a Skoda Fabia in June. It was due for delivery in September, but we finally picked it up on Tuesday…..only 3 months late.👍

When we ordered it, all the Salesman was interested in offering was paintwork and interior treatments, along with Alloy wheel insurance.😳 We declined.

At handover I asked about an extended warranty from the 3 years to 5….I’ll get back to you with a price.

You can guess, not contact. I did some research myself and found out I should have been offered it at the time of ordering the car.🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

£349 at time of order…….now I can purchase it for £599…..I think….but Salesman not got back to me, even having asked him 3 times at handover, and a follow up email from me.

Thought I’d learnt after my Fiat experience, but with Skoda you need to take out the extended warranty at time of ordering your vehicle, with Fiat it’s after first registration.🤦‍♂️

Thought I had it covered this time…..🙁
