Can anyone help resolve my problem please?
I‘m aware of the Fiat Professional extended warranty if I take it out within 14 days of my new purchase but am struggling to find someone I can buy it from.

My Dealer says they’ve registered the vehicle with DVLA and that will do the Fiat 2 year warranty and then I should contact Fiat Customer Services to extend. Fiat Customer Services say they can’t see my motorhome registered - although it is on the DVLA database - and that to extend warranty I need to contact my Fiat Professional workshop and they will do it. My Fiat workshop @ Gloucester say they don’t know about it.

I’m going round in frustrating circles and need to make the deadline.
Has anyone had a similar experience and/or got any knowledge/contact details other than the normal Customer Services 0800 number that would help me please

Thanks

I had similar problems.
I am not 100% sure but I think your dealer needs to register it with Adria who in turn should register it with Fiat.
It will then show on the system.
Don't worry about the date registered with the DVLA, it is the date registered with Fiat that counts.
My local Fiat Professional garage knew very little about it and Fiat Italy pointed me in the direction of Adams Morey in Southampton.
They were great and it was all sorted in about 5 minutes.

I believe you need to take the v5 to a local FIAT professional service garage and they put it on the system, similar happened to me ages ago. the garage inputs the date of first registration.

I bought our extended warranty from Chelston Motorhomes who sold the motorhome but are also a Fiat Professional garage. However my dealings with Adams Morey (Portsmouth and Bournemouth) have been excellent, they seem to be the clever people in the Fiat Professional system. Some dealers don’t seem to realise that the vehicle needs to be registered on the Fiat system as well as with the DVLA. Not all dealers or garages are created equal. A phone call to Adams Morey would be a very good starting point. 023 9269 1122

Are you saying that despite where you buy the motorhome you can contact Adams Morey for an extended warranty where they’ll take the payment and enter your details onto the Fiat system? Thanks

Yes the extended warranty can only be bought from a Fiat Professional garage. Your local Fiat Professional garage should know about it but possibly can’t be bothered to find out what they need to do. Adams Morey do know about the 5 year warranty and are helpful.

Ditto, but did not buy from them but they just happen to be my closest Fiat Professional Dealer. Didn't have V5 as that could take weeks to arrive, but confirmation email from DVLA that Highbridge had registered me with them as the keeper. Paid over the money and that was it.

Not the case with us. Dealer registered it on 1st September 2020, we’d arranged collection on 16th…..Fiat said too late to register for extended warranty as the van was registered with DVLA on 1st. We found this out on our first visit to the Fiat Garage.

The dealer had registered our van with DVLA but failed to notify Fiat. It wasn’t until I had to go to our local Fiat Dealership for the DFP sensor, not too long into ownership, that I found this out. The Fiat Professional Garage couldn’t find it on their Fiat system, so I had to supply them with a copy of my V5C in order to register it with Fiat and carry out warranty work.

We dipped out of the extended Fiat warranty due to the Dealers lack of knowledge. Fiat Garage wouldn’t start warranty work until the van had been accepted on their system.

Tried to take out the extended warranty there and then, but was told too late.🤷‍♂️

Another shout out for Simon Potter at Adams Morley.
That firm were the first people who knew what I was talking about.
They sorted it and I paid by credit card. I then had to take my V5 down to my local Fiat Professional to register it on the system.

Strange - they must make the rules up as they go along. Our date of registration with DVLA was 1st Jan. We collected it from the dealer on 4th Feb and that is the date it was registered with Adria AND Fiat. I took out the extended warranty on 18th Feb.

Agree….they make it up as they go along.……or can’t be bothered once you’ve paid them. 👍

Since owning our van I’m finding that anything to do with Motorhome ownership, when dealing with dealerships, is all about making it up as they go along.🤷‍♂️

When I contacted our suppling dealer, informing them that my local Fiat Garage had declined warranty work until I supplied them with a copy of my V5C…….reply……’Yes, sorry, our Head Office normally informs Fiat as well registering with DVLA. I’ll take it up with them for you’.

I just said ’You’re too late, I’ve sorted it myself’……🤷‍♂️

You don’t have to take the V5 to the garage, I live in Essex and Adams Morey is Southampton / Portsmouth I did it over the phone and just gave them the chassis number and my credit card the whole thing was done over the phone payment made extended warranty was then invoked

I think your lucky as Fiat do stipulate the timings of the extended warranty

Can you not pay for extended warranty 'on line' on the owners section of the Fiat customer support portal ?
I contacted Fiat Camper customer service based in Milan (separate to the Fiat Professional department) and found them very helpful 👍

The limited period is because the warranty has to be seen as part of the original sale. If it is taken out later UK rules stipulate it is treated as an insurance and becomes subject to FSA rules. Fiat would have to register as an insurance company with the FSA and it is not worth their while jumping through all the hoops. I guess they can use a bit of discretion from time to time where purchasers have been misinformed.

I agree, the Customer Service Department in Milan have been very helpful with a couple of issues…..particularly when I couldn’t get my account to register. The guy spent half hour talking me through things, and only hung up when I was happy. Had two follow up calls over two weeks to make sure everything was still okay.

Extended warranty…..couldn’t help as I was out of time. 🤷‍♂️

every dealer should promote this because if the Motorhome comes back in part exchange, a huge bonus for resale
They probably should but some dealers/salespersons seem to know very little beyond the shiny brochures and are only interested in their next personal bonus. I was impressed with Chelston because they did know about the warranty, had a knowledgeable administrator dealing with registrations and and a warranty manager to deal with after sales problems.

Unfortunately they keep pushing me back to a Fiat Professional workshop ☹️
Think I’m going to resort to Adam Morley if I don’t hear from Gloucester later today.

I'm surprised about Gloucester Fiat, when I had a huge issue with the dreaded Comfort-matic they went way beyond what I was expecting . . . I ended up with a brand new gearbox/actuator unit from the Fiat factory in Italy being fitted (over £5k worth) and the van was 4 months out of warranty !!!
Mind you it took 3 months to arrive

When I contacted fiat professional they suggested I would be wasting my money extending the warranty, they said the warranty was designed for commercial vehicles that covered a large amount of mileage not for my purpose of 10,000 miles per year more for TEN times that .So I Left it at that .

Is this Chelston in Taunton? We are buying ours from them and collecting on 19th December so good to hear this!

If you intend to do the extended warranty I would ask them about it now so all the ripples are sorted out by the Time you collect.
