Fiat Ducato sevice

You seem to like Chinese stuff here's some more

Cheap No Good
Good No Cheap

Good warranties only come with Good Parts, supplied by Good reputable trade suppliers,
It makes no difference who fits them provided they have the skills
Give crap parts to a skilled man and you get a crap job
E Bay parts are often very very cheap some for good reasons some for bad
Just because it says Gates on the Box is no guarantee its genuine there is often no trace-ability
if you believe otherwise you are only deluding yourself
Sure buy the odd bits like mirrors headlights ect all day long but NOT safety critical items
or Cam belt critical items or oils etc, you fancy a gamble fine knock yourself out

If it were that simple my self and the likes of Dave Newall would be coining it in buying like mad from e bay
I can assure for the most part we do not
I have been approached on a number of occasions if I would like to sell my empty "Forte" product bottles
and it wasn't Forte asking:xeek:
Sorry was this aimed at someone in particular

I use a company called Stoneywood Motors In Sowerby Bridge, I trust the main mechanic there implicitly. He usually discusses what he thinks needs doing and advises as he has known the vehicle for the last four years.
I have never not taken his advice and sometimes it has worked out better for me as with the milage we do (as most M/homers) it is in his opinion not necessary to change some items.

I am booked in on Tuesday 2nd of January for the cam belt and service and after checking the cost of the parts he gave me a quote in the region of £475 but this is not an exact science as we all know so I have budgeted for £500.

I don't know how that compares with other Garages but I will be more than happy with £500 as I know I will sleep at night when I set off through the Tunnel a week on Saturday:xgrin:
I no mate even around here a Cam belt job is about £600. Just when £400 was mentioned but just found out that’s mates rates with cheap eBay parts. Thought it was too good to be true but was only trying to help a mate out as he’s a bit stuck for cash. As I say would do it myself being x mechanic but just too physically unfit.

The warranty on gates belts is from gates themselves not the garage
There are some strange ideas on here as well as in the High Street :xeek:
To day Argos told me the warranty with them was 30 days. anything afterwards i should take up with the Manufacturer
I told them they were deluded too:xdoh:

Most ebay suppliers are reputable and major parts suppliers. They are not all Chinese crap.
Just because these companies also choose to market themselves on a massive market place site doesn't make them crap.
I also told by my mechanics that even when you order a specific make from the local supplies, the item in the box is often made by another manufacturer. Its a minefield.
For instance. I specified a Luk clutch plate what arrived in the box was made by QH. Luk don't make a ducato clutches - but they do supply them - in their boxes!

Another vote for Dave Newell, they did mine earlier this year.
That's were I will be going ….only 10 miles away atm ,,,but not open till 7th Jan..

Hi,
I live in Wombourne and had my cambelt on my Hymer B544 changed by Andy Dyson in Wombourne, wasn’t expensive. Have used Dave Newell as well for other more specific work, recently had some work done on the gear box by AD in Dawley Brook Red Kingswinford.
