Well that`s our 14th year & still loving it.
Fiat 2.3 Ducato, dash board messages and warnings, we change our oil and filter every 12 months despite only driving 3000miles a year. last week whilst driving down to Cornwall the oil light came on with the message “Change the Oil” came on, I stopped just to check the Oil level all was ok so I carried on, 200 mile further the message changed to “Stop Engine”.

Obviously the garage hadn’t changed the status in the vehicles computer when changing the oil, apparently there are two settings one for a service another for the oil.

I looked online and on utube I found a video where a guy is saying you can get around this problem by, Turning on the ignition but don’t start the engine. Hold down the Accelerator for 60 secs, then pump the brake 7 times, wait for 60 secs then turn off the ignition.
You then wait a further 60 secs and all should be returned back to normal.

I did this and presto, warning light and message gone, I was worried that the messages would shut the engine down, does anyone know it this would have happened?

I’ve done it a few times on other vehicles and will do the same with my present one as I do my own oil changes, if you want to get it checked or reset properly then give me a shout as I can point you to my local preferred garage that deals with motorhomers…👍🏼

On vw you reset the service and oil intervals countdown via left stork entering menu and hold down the trip meter button.
Worth checking if yiu have a accessible submenu via stork buttons or similar. Vauxhall re sets the same, via menu.

Hi . Do you keep the accelerator down when pumping the brake 7 times or do you release it ? I am assuming this will work with the 9 speed auto model ? Thank you

If its post 2016 Ducato euro6 or euro5+ the all the hokey cokey in the world wont reset the oil change algorithm this can only be done by professional kit or diy Multiecuscan or alfaobd. It will eventually get to limp mode only.
Multiecuscan is my preferred choice but alfaobd is a capable tool that i carry all the time on my android phone (about £31 on play store lifetime licience and upgrades)

Do you still need a lead as I'm coming up to limp mode at 26k

My 2015 3 litre Comfortmatic always says Check Engine Oil at start-up. The graph shows it full, and just been serviced.
Nearly always done it, and seems to not cause any other issues, except it being annoying.

Well I'm on 23000 miles and 30 months old so well past oil change time. I had my oil changed by a back street independent in March when th vehicle was 2 years old. I've had had no warnings. I am not aware he reset anything.

I believe (not sure) it, limp mode will appear at 28000miles. Please dont believe me just go on a 7k trip to deepest darkest france then report your success.
There are more than one here that have suffered this fate but did not take notice of names it doesn't matter to me because i reset every year i change the oil. But wont i run out of reset tickets, YES but ill just add more, its all posibble with multiecuscan. Ducatos were originally resitricted to 9 oil service resets, and this worried some worryarses but you can start again after 9.

We will see. I'm in Bosnia and Herzegovina at the moment and have 6 weeks of touring left. I think I may be home before I hit 28000 but you never know.

Anyway - why 28000? Service intervals on Euro 6 Ducatos are 2 years or 30000 miles.

Just to confirm, yes I had just hit 28000 miles, thanks Just Smiffy, we are home now but were staying in Carnon Downs, I would have taken you up on your offer(y)

Thanks worked a treat 👌👍👏👏

Just had it come up while in traffic jam round Antwerp, very worrying. Stopped and did this procedure ASAP but accelerator pedal down while pumping brake 7 times hold accelerator for 1min then switch on . All cleared thank goodness. I forgot to clear it after last oil change. Doh!”
