Yes indeed... all engines start from cold and are then immediately driven to quickly get up to working temperature.....NOT started and left to idle and never reach operating temperature.then just start the engine for a little time, no worse than being in a two hour traffic jam and all engines start from cold

Hi,If you are considering buying a generator for you daughter to attend a festival be prepared for verbal confrontation from others, and don't park anywhere near me, generators cause so much discord why would you want one. Thanks for all the suggestions, they are a family so bed needs to go up during the day, they will have the awning for muddy boots I am going to buy another battery, borrow a smallish generator and keep my fingers crossed. I will also keep in mind the starting of the engine and not moving!
Yours won't have a CAT or DPF, so not quite such a problem it really depends it it will get up to temperature. Most of the modern ones if you run them from cold on tickover for ½ hour the temp gauge won't even climb off the end stop, yet drive down the road 2 miles and they are nearly up to temp.Lenny, in this regard, what counts as "modern"?? My van is a year 2001, should I also be wary of doing this?
Don’t think if you’re going to a music festival you want peaceHi,If you are considering buying a generator for you daughter to attend a festival be prepared for verbal confrontation from others, and don't park anywhere near me, generators cause so much discord why would you want one.
If your really worried about your battery's install a solar panel instead 100 watt panel installed with a split charger will give you peace of mind and other campers peace .
IMV silence is not the issue..I dont mind the normal hub bub of a site... kids running around..adults holding conversations..doors banging "dogs barking" etc BUT a genny is a totally differant sort of noise....it drones away constantly in the background and i for one, once tuned into it, cannot blank it out and the more I try the more annoying it becomes. If you want silence you are better off staying away from festivals.
Yep, I'm like that but it doesn't bother the boss, If there is a rule saying no gennys and someone is using one I complain.IMV silence is not the issue..I dont mind the normal hub bub of a site... kids running around..adults holding conversations..doors banging "dogs barking" etc BUT a genny is a totally differant sort of noise....it drones away constantly in the background and i for one, once tuned into it, cannot blank it out and the more I try the more annoying it becomes.
You either have a very responsible daughter or your mad..
I take my hat off to you...
Make sure well tied down wi chains and padlocks because if at a music festival it wont be there when you return..Take a portable solar panel, say 100 watt you can then move it around to take the advantage of where the sun is.
Usually people with generators use them to play loud [and horrible] music systems - In my experience [lots !] the organisers of the festival will remove it !!Make sure well tied down wi chains and padlocks because if at a music festival it wont be there when you return..
