Ferry and Tunnel.

Frances figures are quite different to ours, a huge spike in October and now under control, I wonder if the curfew is what has worked for them. it makes a lot of sense to me that if there is nobody allowed on the streets at night then it is much easier to police.
Who knows and of course bars, cafes and restaurants have been closed and will be until at least mid Jan . Also masks must be worn everywhere outside and in and certainly in my area is adhered to . Time will tell in a couple of weeks after the Xmas get together ! There was no curfew on Christmas Eve but there is no lifting of the curfew for New Year.

In Shrewsbury we are tier 2 and were before so our bars and pubs have been open a lot more ( although not the same as it was) and our numbers are going down still. We don't have many students and public transport is dire so hardly used

That’s good . Here is rural and folks adhering . Bars and cafes shut i think because it is such a culture here and stops folks meeting indoors as it is winter . Markets are open but for food only and is fun watching the men who normally sit in the cafe or bar with a wine while wife does the shopping . They look so lost standing in the queue at the stalls !!

Were tier 2 in Whitby but the cases are going up. I don't think it is just visitors but I think there's a definitive effect 15 miles up the road its tier 3. We will get the first effect of the Christmas relaxation at the end of the week fingers crossed it's not too bad.

We have Bridlington just down the road in tier 3, but also I think Filey, Whitby and Scarborough may have, or, are having lots of visits to the seaside from the West Yorkshire area, a tier 3

I started looking at number plates and dealer stickers in cars yesterday there seemed a lot of day trippers probably bored of being at home. They were from all over the place. Of course the sticker might well not relate to where the current owner lives but I suspect there are quite a few from higher tiers on days out north Yorkshire police gave out loads of fines in York the other week lets hope they crack on with a load more and some publicity.

Bars always seemed to be closed when i am in France especially after 7.0pm...BUSBY:LOL::LOL:

Much more welcoming in inland Spain,,BUSBY😁😁
To be fair it is a different culture here . Families tend to socialise at home in the evenings with friends and family except in large cities where they are out more in the evening because they live in apartments.

Summer is very different where we have evening get togethers in village squares with food and wine .

Just wish people would realise that France is 20 years behind the UK. We only have very few McDonalds, KFC's and other rubbish fast food outlets, they still have 2 hour lunch breaks, and the job will be done when its done. If you have had enough work for one day, you close, that's the ethos here which is why it is such a much nicer way of life. Family life matters.
I am sure, one day, when all this pandemic is over, other Nations will adopt the slower, more relaxed way of life.
Sorry to hear that your bar shut early Busby, that's just the way they work over here!

News to me ? The route I take to & fro the Uk has a McDonalds in nearly every town I go through. :giggle: Can't recall seeing a KFC though?

Nearest one to me is in Cahors - last visited about 6 or 7 years ago just to keep the grandchildren happy. It doesn't matter where the McDs are, UK or France - the counter staff always speak three times faster than my brain can process🤨

IF the KFCs here are as good as the one in Andover, you wouldn't want to see one, believe me....😁

I havent been in a French Mcdonalds for a long time either because the only thing I like from there are the breakfasts. I couldnt believe it when they asked me how I wanted the burger cooking.

Pre MH we had a French holiday house and used to go to the local Cafe des Sports, the opening times weren't published and very difficult to predict, although he was good fun when it was open. On one Sunday afternoon when we were making noises about going to eat and he had clearly decided that he hadn't taken enough money for that day he marched up the street and knocked the boulangerie door and insisted that she opened and got us some bread etc.
