Faults on motorhome cannot get the dealer to rectify

Many of the routine 'must be serviced by.......' type of agreements relating typically to main dealers/franchises etc were outlawed in the Competition Act 1998. To apply such a specific restriction requires obtaining an exemption and has to show it is not anti-competition and has some tangible consumer benefit.

It’s all in Sunlights Warranty T&C’s. 🤷‍♂️

I double, double checked with the dealer, as that’s how I read the T&C’s. Take it to Sunlight Dealership or Warranty is void.

They can't sign away your legal rights.

I accept that but the OP said he did the repairs himself. Most warranties can be dealt with elsewhere as long as it’s a VAT registered company.

Most contracts made the subtle change from 'must be serviced by BMW dealer' to 'must be serviced according to manufacturer's guidelines' (there are of course other manufacturers!) The legislation was introduced to avoid 'big players' stifling competition from smaller independent businesses. Much of it is covered in the unfair contract terms in the Consumer Rights Act 2015. In other words a company can produce whatever terms and conditions it likes as part of a contract but if challenged and those terms are deemed unfair the contract becomes void and unenforceable.
During the covid cancelled flights and holidays fiasco quite a few 'big players' were handed out multi-million pound fines for breaching consumer law, they perhaps thought they were invincible household names but the CMA actually showed they had some teeth and acted to support the consumers.
