What’s the fastest way to Benidorm from Calais? Have summer tyres on the van 😉

The quickest way is not to stop except changing drivers.

Theoretically there is no way across the french spanish border that does not require either winter tyres /snow chains

Simply put your start point and destination into Michelin route planner and it will give you the quickest and shortest and cheapest route. Simple

Whilst the above is true, the route as shown, going as it does over the Millau bridge goes over an altitude of over 2000ft and as a possibility of snow.
The OP says he has Summer tyres. This can be mitigated by carrying snow chains in Winter.

Hendaye to irun
And you can actually come out at Urrugne after Bidart, and take the local road D810, and cross with the local traffic into Irun, avoiding A63 if needed.

But at this time of the year I would have winter, or at least all season tyres anyways.

Calais to Rouen and follow Le Mans road signs throughRouen and then motorway to Bordeaux and then on to Irun.Pamplona.Valencia Beni.expensive but fast. We usually take two and a half days as when we travel the weather in France is usually crap and we can’t wait to get through it 😎

Snow tyres, chains, i must have done it scores of times via different routes in the depths of winter and never needed either. But then again i'm the best driver in the world. ;) :clap2:
You wait until you do.......!!

We use Via Michelin quite a lot. It allows you to put in vehicle details and gives you a rough idea of fuel costs and accurate details of toll costs. It's quite scary!

If tolls are free, is it still classified as a toll road? I mean a Sat-nav won't know that it's free, right? Have a lot of the tolls not been lifted in certain places in France and Spain now?

Just wondering as if you set it to 'tolls free' it could still make you avoid a route that is a lot quicker.... and free.
