Fair price to install a Maxxair fan?

Thanks, just had a shuftie and they're more expensive than the UK. 😐
Interesting indeed...buying for us from the UK is problematic...was a good option for us when we bought one...I self fitted which was very easy...

Just checked my receipt from last year..313.22€ was what I paid for ours...👍🇪🇦

Don’t need to screw it down just bond it as the inner frame screws up and through the outer frame so it can’t go anywhere
Now that’s good information as I wouldn’t be screwing anything down from the outside unless absolutely necessary.
As you say if it’s screwed from underneath inside then ut can’t go anywhere.

That's very cheap, who did you get that quote from?

Highbridge Caravans, Devon Branch. Price quoted for fixing to a new Adria PVC which I believe has the power supply fitted as standard therefore reducing cost.

Hardest part is getting the old vent off the roof and removing the old mastic?

Strange the inner frame on mine had a series of eight lugs that lined up with the top frame holes that you screwed tight with long self tapping screws

Thanks. I asked Highbridge caravans in Highbridge to quote as they are very close to where I live but they wouldn't quote because they didn't supply the van.

Mine was £580 supplied and fitted but it did involve cutting a hole in the roof as there was no suitable skylight to replace.

If there had been an existing skylight I would have done it myself … I just didn’t trust myself to cut a hole in the roof.

nice job! The inside frame does not look like the standard Maxxfan one, is it some 3rd party item or some Maxxfan variant? Thank you!
The inner frame is the original blind which I adapted to fit over the max fan frame

Buy it and drive down to me on my driveway and we’ll fit it together, it’s easy and straightforward I’ve done it before.

That’ll save you £500…👍🏼 and you’ll learn how to do some stuff yourself…😊

I hate people getting ripped off..
Is that an open invitation? :)

Had two Maxxfans fitted by RogerIvy and nigelivy at Offgrid power solutions, unsure of cost as there were other bits done aswell, but they had to get power up to them and take out the old Heki and they hide the wiring IN the insulation so you can’t see it, very good job👍

Did you/off grid have to screw through the roof to fit it? Or sealant only?

In their YouTube video they just used sealant.

The latest ones don't have holes in the frame just recessed points you can drill out if you want.

I just used Stika 295uv no screws on mine.

As Lenny HB says they only use sika, I don’t think anyone likes their roof being screwed (there are installers that put a screw through every hole😱)
I screwed through every hole, but used flexible bedding sealant. I wanted the option of getting it off and replacing with skylight if I wanted. 🤣

When I took out our 400 x 400 rooflight to fit our Maxxair, I found there was no wooden frame surround in the roof appature, so I dug out some of the roof insulation and fitted a wooden frame to help reduce any flex the might break the mastic seal on the Maxxair as it is a far heavier unit than our previous rooflight.

I’ve fitted three Maxxair units so far, all dead easy to do and never had a leak or any other issue apart from a failed motor that they replaced under warranty.

The first install was a van conversion a few years back where I needed to cut the roof, the second was Class A motorhome and the third was my current TT (trailer/caravan). So long as you aren’t afraid to climb on the roof, installing a new Maxxair is simple, quick and easy.

Plus when I do the work myself I know it’s done right.

When i install anything in the roof I avoid drilling the roof itself and just use sikka and lightly sand the area it's being stuck to. I also drill out the recessed points if there are any, if not I drill a few holes anyway in the roof part of the frame, when it's pushed down into the sikka (remember not to squeeze all the sikka out - I use tile spacers to stop that happening) the excess comes out through the holes, I smooth it over, creating a mushroom head effect which helps to keep it secure.
