Extra fridge fans WHY!!!

This is the first hot trip with our fans. They have been working overtime on automatic setting for over a week here in Bavaria. I’ve noticed a definite improvement in frozen things staying frozen and I’ve only had the setting on one above the lowest.
I’m sure that it’s used a lot less gas too, we’ve not been on EHU at all and normally would have used up a lot more. Free solar to run the fans seems like a good deal !
Got the same or similar to those above that come with a frame and a controller.
Thanks for that. Do you think you could let me know where you bought the fridge fans and roughly how much they cost with the controller. PM me if you like. Thanks in anticipation, Simon.

I got them direct from the Netherlands, not sure if this company or not now but they are same as these
45€ plus p&p

I got info from this thread

If you can't follow my simple instructions :D

Here are a couple of easy ways of doing it.

CBE Fridge fan kit.

Vento Fridge fan kit.

Did you read about the internal fas as well as that makes a bit different at recovering temperature after the door has been opened.

Just an update for Lenny's Vento Fridge Fan Kit.

Save yourself £7.54 buying it here:

Amazon product ASIN B001CUY03K
The Ebay seller just orders it from Amazon and sets the delivery address to yours!!

Genius but adds £7.54 to the price. It actually comes direct from Amazon, in Amazon packaging.

It is an identical unit with the correct ASIN so no difference at all.

Watching with interest as my freezer was only just coping in the 31-32 degree heat of Austria last month. I’ve just had a look on amazon at some Titan fans and it’s git a diagram of fans top and bottom vents drawing air in and expelling air out, is this the preferred set up? It really needs to be easy for me to have a crack at it???

I'm wary of fans blowing in because they could blow fumes into the MH. Ones which extract only are the type generally fitted. I'm also unsure why it mentions a timer. The simplest control is an on/off manual switch. Alternatively, a controller triggered by temperature is what I fitted. I also don't see a need for a speed controller. If it needs cooling then the fans will run then switch off when the temperature falls.

Also you don't want too many fans, it needs heat to work. Just put 2 at the top, extracting and something to switch them off if it gets too cool.

My sensor is on the condenser outlet, when it gets to 41c the fans go off ?

Good info, btw you are probably the closest funster to me that’s done it, questions and requests for help could be coming your way????

If you use a controller to operate the fans each installation is different so you need to experiment with the temperature settings. I like to have the fans turn on when the ambient temperature is 25° and above with a 2° hysteresis. To achieve that in my current van the controller is set to 32° in my last van it was 35°.

My fridge didn't cope in last week's temps, it read 44.9°outside in the middle of France. We bought a usb rechargeable fan from Mr Bricolage and set that up inside the lower vent and fed the cable through the window to keep it charged up, we were on EHU then so left it in all day. The fridge started cooling again. I thought the fridge had broken but it was the intense heat that stopped it working. When i get home next week I'll have to buy one of those fans suggested Although i doubt ill get that heat again especially in Britain!

Where have you taken your 12v supply from for the internal fan?

The fan I used was the Noctua NF-A9x14 as it is very quiet, pushes a lot of air and at only 14mm thick it takes up less fridge space than other fans. As the fan only draws just over 0.1 of an amp, that allowed me to use very fine 30AWG wire which is has an outer diameter of 1.3mm. The 2 fan power wires and the fan thermostat sensor wires are then routed out to the back of the fridge following the main fridge thermostat cable and the up the back of the fridge to the temperature controller mounted in the back wall of the cupboard above our fridge. A fused power cable then runs from the void behind the cupboard to the hab batteries. On our previous van I routed the fan and fan thermostat sensor wires through the fridge drain tube to the back of the fridge. Our internal fan is set to come on when the fridge temperature is above 6 degrees C.
