Exeter Racecourse, CAMC site - Not what we expected

Very easy to criticise when you know the place I thought the original post very informative? Folk should be a lititle more thoughtfull before posting they are only trying to be helpful they must feel really pissed off with some of the replies on this thread?🤔

Totally agree, I’ve seen it before that people don’t post anything because of the slagging off they get… constructive criticism is one thing but asking to delete someone’s thread because it’s there opinion of a site is unexplainable…

I hope the OP continues to share there travels…😎

I must admit that at times we do wonder why we do it. It takes hours to make the videos and if it wasn't for the fact we have a record of our journeys for ourselves we would be tempted not to continue. Thank you for your kind words.

We stop over at Exeter Racecourse 4 or 5 time's a year, it's brilliant if you have a dog, good walk around the course, the toilet facilities are excellent for the price of a nights stay.

If we want to go into Exeter we just hire a car, cheap as chips, on the door step is Exmouth, Dawlish, Sidmouth and Teignmouth etc etc. Fab area to visit.
This year the site has new wardens and they are a bit clueless but hey ho.

‘Site Managers’, I’ll have you know!! ;)

I'm embarrassed to say I get motion sick as a passenger. If I know well in advance I can take medication to prevent it but it all becomes a bit of a faff.
Nothing to be embarrassed about. I’ve suffered since being a child. I can’t sit in the back of a car for very long before I feel sick. I can manage much better in the front when I can see where I’m going and I’m perfectly ok when driving.

I'm also a pilot and when I leant to fly I had to have lots of short lessons otherwise I became ill. However, like you I can drive or fly forever if I'm at the controls with no ill effects. Strange!

The power of the mind when you’re concentrating………! (y)

Try Warwick Racecourse C&MC site - ten minutes walk into town; short walk to the Grand Union canal; acres of space for dogs; Sainsbury’s alongside the course…….and so-on!

(and sinks the ‘right’ height! ;) )
Decent Wetherspoons in a converted bank, climbed all those locks on the canal, had to carry the dog back as he was knackered.:whew:

My wife did look up the parking before hand but then when she looked it up on the day we were going to head there she saw some pictures of the entrance that worried her. I would have given it a go but it is not worth arguing with the wife :giggle:
I guess she must have dropped the google yellow man down and got the wrong impression, but you can take it from me should you want to visit again the Exeter P&R access for large Motohomes will be no problem.

Many years ago we overnighted at Exeter racecourse.

It was September and the whole site was covered in fog/ low cloud. We lost our Border Collie in the fog and only got him back by clapping rhythmically to give him guidance.

I quite understand the OP if they expected a typical C&CC or C&MC site.

I have now given them some confirmation that the Exeter P&R would be no problem for access. I think the heat is getting causing a bit offended syndrome on here!

We use it regularly when down that way , you can walk under the A38 and there is a Londis supermarket and petrol station , Costa Coffee
And you can get a reasonable meal at the American Diner .
But we have a Caravan so have the car to get about

The Forrestry Commission have a large developed site just along the road towards Haldon Belvedere where you can walk, ride, go ape, cafe, toilets and huge car park, see deer and other wildlife.

More Forrest walks the other way beyond the A380 and fantastic views over the River Exe, Exmouth, Starcross etc by the Obelisk and the Teign Bean cafe van

Don't know Exeter Racecourse but I like some of the others such as Warwick, Thirsk and Uttoxeter. All within walking distance of the towns and a lot cheaper than the main sites. Fair enough, toilet blocks are usually dated but always clean. Maintenance is usually the racecourse responsibility.
Thanks for an informative video.👍

I reckon it is an excellent stop off and a short trip into Exeter. However being at the top of Haldon Hill it is exposed to all weather!

The OP has a very good voice for telly i enjoyed the hele caravan park video too
very professional👍

No not heat just a desire for folk to think before posting and using good manners😊

I thought it was a good informative video, and he was right it looked like a good transit site if you are on your way somewhere else (i like cheltenham racecourse site myself and always overnighted there )
cheers pampam
Stayed Cheltenham earlier this year, but if you can't get on the grass then it's the tarmac in front of the stands and thats very sloped. Both wheels of the ground and we still weren't level.
