I am 68 well 69 in 2 weeks but lets not rush thing eh. Anyway I am also diabetic and inject insulin so I have to renew my licence every 3 years but then I uplifted my van a Chausson 640 on a ford base to 4 ton and so now I have to have a medical with a diabetic specialist (which at the moment the DVLA pay for) on top of the medical I have to drive a 3.5ton vehicle and then I get my C1 back for a year which means renewing my licence every year instead of every 3, I think that this is what they are looking at for the over 70s even with no medical issues.

Yes, over 70 for C1 is medical every 3 years for everyone. Every year for a C licence.

If they get extra training I would have thought that the C1 would be a piece of cake compared to the awareness required to be on blues and twos.

They have to do the C1 before they are allowed to do any of the advanced driving and blue light driver training.
