European breakdown cover

Yes I took mine out at insurance renewal with Staveley Head it was on offer at £59.99 👌
I've got rid of Nationwide flex plus now so saving £13 a month
Really! You are saving £8 per month from what you have posted. Bear in mind that FlexPlus also covers ANY vehicle you own and for any authorised person driving with your permission PLUS International family Travel Insurance AND Mobile Phone insurance. A no-brainer in my view unless there are other Green Flag benefits you have not mentioned. You are also covered if you are a passenger in any car NOT owned by yourself. Worth reviewing?

I would like to say ,I am quite happy with that quote but is it genuine or will they come up with some other stipulation when I have paid my money and must add I have had greenflag before but it was more than that.

We have a NatWest account that includes Greenflag UK vehicle recovery and you can pay an uplift for European Cover such we used for our cars. We only had to use them once in Germany (car) and I have to say that they were absolutely fantastic, fast and very helpful. When we checked if they'd cover the motorhome they had some conditions and it was the height of 3m that we were too high for, so we went with the cover included in Caravanguard's Cover.

Just a comment ref the price of cover, my understanding is that GF use a network of independent engineers and garages to undertake the recovery work, rather than have a fleet of their own badged recovery trucks, so I think they can perhaps be more competitive on price. I stand to be corrected here through!!

Been looking at the various options, and for some reason I am getting a quote off greenflag for £118 for annual multi trips now this is way less than aa, rac and various other breakdown companys even ones that say they are the cheapest, the least amount I can get off the others is £165, going up to almost£300.
Does this seem right, I have tried bumping up the greenflag by adding all sorts of stuff I don't need but that is the figure that keeps comeing up.
I’m with Brittania Rescue part of LV l, £130 this year, but that’s premium policy, but that’s for all 3 vehicles. But couldn’t recommend them enough. We broke down a few years ago with our old MH in Spain, we had hire car, flown home and bag to collect it when fixed. They are amazing. Appreciate £130 is not £65, but value for money and peace of mind 😊

Do make sure that whichever cover you choose, it covers your motorhome length, height and weight. Some do not.
Had an unfortunate time with Green Flag this summer in my car in France - mainly down to the contractors they used in France. First pick up decided they couldn't find us (despite accurate description and What3 Words and having a mobile phone number to ring), then later said too busy to come (it was after hours!0 and evenually picked up by another company who left us stranded on a village street at 8 pm with our accomodation 300 km away! Hotels.com to the rescue - do put the app on your phone!!!

It all very well sorting out the fine print & costs of whether your length of vans are covered & yourselves for breakdown, recovery to local garage, or at worst, complete repatriation to The UK
None of you except John Barret who was "Miss sold" has even mentioned what will happen as regards your Pets.
I would be very concerned if I travelled with a dog or three as to how I would get them & ourselves back to the UK, if they are not accepted by Air, Train, or coach/bus?
I hope someone can solve this, and let us all know what arrangements can be made, otherwise normal repatriation cover that many seem to have with Pets is next to useless, are those travelling with pets are simply ignoring that fact.?

Watch Green Flag think they only cover upto 7m vans in small print. SAGA is good.

Anyone found European breakdown cover that they have had to use and they have repatriated their dog as well ?
ADAC repatriate everything but unfortunately you can no longer have it if a UK resident

When I broke down in France it was a concern to me ubtil it was pointed out that in France dogs are accepted everywhere. Spain is differnet & why I chose a hire car to return home cross border as it was far simpler. I could have flown with dog in cabin but then I would still have needed a hire car as dog not allowed on public transport here. I only had the one car from France to home in spain & returned to hertz in murcia.

Probably .
You also need to be aware that even if without a dog if there are 6 of you travelling in a MH then in the event of a breakdown at least 2 people will have to travel in the MH as even a double cab recovery does not seat 6.

The AA is the provider in the UK and FlexPlus covers motorhomes up to 7.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight with the width up to 8'3" (2.55 metres).

I’m France now I have tag axle £110 with rac

Beware!!! If your provider uses RACS for breakdown cover in Spain they do not do roadside assistance, apart from jump starting. They will send a low loader. Won't even look at the problem. Not sure which companies us the Spanish rescue service, but ADAC (used by Comfort) certainly do, and the AA (who responded to our complaint). As we found out to our cost.
