As we have a 2 hour drive to the Chunnel took advantage of a stop over at Bearstead CM&C site which , whilst doesn’t have a lot going on around it , is impeccably clean , friendly, quiet and 30 minutes from the pipe . Also is serviced by an excellent Indian takeaway . Mrs Bags rated it as one of the best . If following the route can we recommend a stop at sissinghurst castle - gorgeous gardens and free if your a NT member .

Early to bed meant early up and for to the tunnel early but normal embarkation time - but all on schedule and no thorough checking by the Douenes :) .

2 1-2 hour south towards Felleries camping car stop . Made the mistake of detouring through Belgium 🇧🇪 who , it appears , have no repaired the road from WW1 . 🦷 🫨

Felleries is a one horse village but the municipal is very quiet , loads of space and has the essentials - just make sure you have grub and portable pub - as we do - hence the typos.

Tomorrow Dinant and Hotton .

2 hour drive - - - I Wish the fastest we can do it is in 4 hours so we tend to travel the day before and stop at Little Switzerland Wear Bay Road Folkestone it's just 10 minutes from the tunnel beautiful café and wonderful wildlife population so I can relax before the check in properly ready for a decent drive as far as Vivonne in France

That looks like a great option for a night before

Today was a shorter drive to Dinant in Belgium , nice but probably crammed in the summer with tourists and then a hour further to Hotton where we found this little beauty

https://www.searchforsites.co.uk/marker.php?id=19309 parked right on the river and the sun is out - very chilled out site that takes ASCI . Owners very friendly and the place is very quiet and near to town for essentials - like beer .

A lively country and hills drive from Hotton to Mehring on the moselle - just over two hours with more sun than forecast . Got a spot 20ft from the river , a stroll to the supermarket to pick up lunch and a spot of route planning for whenever we decide to shoot off .

A great drive through some national parks east from Mehring - great country side . Thought going straight to the romantic road was a bit of a journey so stopped off half way here https://maps.app.goo.gl/CZWGJeW2ZRcTSNr86?g_st=ic which is run by a lovely young couple . Hard standing , power , water , dumps the lot - for free is u buy a box of wine apparantly , I will confirm later . Weathers improving - very wet yesterday

2 1/2 hour drive to Rothenburg ob der Tauber today . The town is picture perfect and has more than its fair share of tourists but has to be seen . Camping Tauberromantik is a good half hour walk into town with a serious climb and the campsite itself is fine - very clean , all the facilities and a half decent restaurant .

Took off south of the romantic road today which is to be recommended and is drop dead gorgeous but isn’t fast . After 2 detours we put it in the “£&)” bucket and googles the fast route to Fussen . 2 hours later and through some heavy rain and a flashed speeding camera (I think) we arrived . Stellplatz are fine , clean modern and not too busy . A walk into town for a coffee and cake and back for some homemade supper before crossing the mountains tomorrow

This was a suprise . After a 3 1/2 hour drive down the fern pass (gorgeous) and Bressan pass (not so nice ) we arrived at camping hermitage above Merano . It’s actually a 4 star spa hotel with a well terraced campsite on the back of it with great views . Plots handle a 7m ok and each has water and ehu . Gonna take the bus into Merano tomorrow (free) but this place could easily occupy 3 or 4 days as there are cable cars and gardens to see locally as well . Very nice site - not cheap but then Italy isn’t

Had a break from driving today and took the day into Merano (Meran) , was lovely . Very pretty old town with an alpine river running through it and partook in a coffee , pizza and a aperol . One of the prettier Italian towns we have seen so far. Got the right bus back but unfortunately got off early which meant a 1/2 mile hike back up the hill .

Venice now , arrived yesterday at camp fusina - it’s “alright” but typically Italian hap hazard way .

Caught the ferry to Venice from the campsite today . 20degrees and sunny - perfect . 1200 steps later , ice cream , lunch , rialto market and bridge , st marks sq and many many back streets and tat shops and we’re back at the campsite . Lovely day , a bit sun kissed and in dire need of a shower and a beer . Maybe back again tomorrow .

Day 14 approaches and we are now in Borghetto between Garda and Montova . The village is stunning although packed with tourists and the Parco Sigurta is well worth the money and the sweaty walk (20 mins) . We are staying at caravan park borghetto which is worth a few bob extra that the sosta as you get a park discount , a nice pool and everything else that goes with it . The place has more morellos than a cherry tree - god knows how they keep them so clean , if there any motorhome cleaning garages then please let me know

We were on that campsite last year, I seem to remember it had a solar array that moved to track the sun ? Quite impressive.
It was packed out then with Morellos and Concords, many with a nice sports car packed away on the garage 👍

Edit : just realized it was the year before last  where does time go ?

Nice cycle track there too.
