It comes out the same way it goes in mate!I know it's not in quite the same league, but that Briggs and Stratton engined lawnmower I worked on the other day didn't even have an oil drain plug in it, when did they start doing that, are they "sealed for life" units now ?![]()
If you buy the B&S oil, it’s exactly the right measurement and just tip it all inI've got a big graduated oil sucker that I used, but as I didn't know how much to refill it with, I turned the syringe upside down and started to raise the plunger to expel the free air to get a measurement and a couple of cc's that were in the dip pipe made it to the garage ceiling !![]()

Nothing wrong with a pair of axle stands, just incase, though I once left it with all four wheels off for a couple of days whilst they were being refurbished, axle stands loosely in place incase it lowered, never moved a millimetre. Are those of you with levelers suggesting you go underneath without additional support?
I have always serviced my vehicles myself must be an age thing.
Yep, A3 Cabrio, SEAT Alhambra and the Ducato 150 MH when we had it, once a year on everything, pads and discs when req. It's been many years since I did my own servicing, never put a car or motorhome into a garage, but even a minor service, basically an old and filter change, is becoming expensive, local garage charges £75 per hour, plus parts which are always listed at 7 litres of oil at £xx per litre, (even though it only holds 5.7lt ) + a gold plated oil filter, + a gold sump plug washer .. + Labour ... so decided to have a crack myself..
Yesterday I had a look under the engine to see if the filter was easy to reach, and yes it is, as is the sump plug.. so decided to do it myself today..
6 lt Coma oil + filter + washer .. = £54
Job done ..
Who else does there own servicing ?
Always with axle stands. I have a mate who crushed his pelvis relying on the jacks on his ageing America Motorhome. Are those of you with levelers suggesting you go underneath without additional support?

Don't do much on the wifes MINI, 'cos you have to tell the idiot box on board what's been done, and I haven't got the necessary IT stuff.
6yrs and no fuel filter change, I think you need a new mechanic?Do all my vehicle servicing and always have done, even on brand new vehicles. I’ve used a Haynes manual as a service record, but filled all the notes pages, so switched to adding them on my iPad.
Same with the jollybus, I filled all the service inserts in FIAT, so switched again to iPad.

Is it the 2ltr internal belt engine? They have to have a special oil apparently, though £142 makes it very very special.Just had my two year old Ford Transit based MH serviced by Arnold Clark. Was charged £142 just for the oil. Filters etc were on top (£35) seems like a lot for oil.
Any thoughts. Not mechanically minded.
