Hi all. I used my emovis tag for years in France with our car and caravan but since upgrading to motorhome I have had problems. Our motorhome is 9m long x 3m high x 2.35m wide and is 5t weight. The tag works at some toll gates but not others, any advice why this happens and if any other options available would be gratefully received?

Adrian, I believe you are too large. From their website:

France - Liber-t tag

As long as your vehicle is no more than 3 metres in height and less than 3.5 tonnes GVW you can use any non height restricted lane that has the Liber-t
sanef-liber-t-logo-small
symbol illuminated. A vehicle of this size falls into the Class 2 fee structure. If your vehicle is larger than this then please contact our sister company Eurotoll.

Are you a tag axle? If so I reckon some toll gates are equipped to recognise it.

Thank you. I suspected this

If it doesn’t operate via the tag, and it is just a case that it didn’t pick up the signal, you can operate the tag by scanning the barcode that is on the back of the tag. We had to do this until moved tag to bottom of windscreen.

We have two Tags from Emovis, one for France and the other of Spain and Portugal. The French Tag is not linked to a particular vehicle.

It seems to us that in France they just measure the height at the toll booths, not the weight. We are low enough to get through and have always paid for Class 2 with or without the tag. In you case it may be better to rock up to the toll booth and if they show class 3 price just do what the French motorhomers do and press the help button and say in your best French accent "Nous sommes un camping car". Anecdotal evidence on this forum suggests that 9 times out of 10 they will change it to class 2.

Different rules in Spain and Portugal and we have never had any problems.

Adrian140974 Do you use the 30km lanes where the trucks go we always do without problems and height sensors there let artics through😊
give it a try and see if that solves it😊👍 by the way we are 12 m o/a length with four axles as we tow a twin axle car trailer.😊

I am 3.02m high and 5t and tag axle usually with a small car trailer and we now use the Fulli Tag with no issues, previous to this i had the emovis/sanef tag and it was nothing but trouble but with the Fulli tag we went from Spain to France - Calais with no issues going through 20+ tolls. Also used in Spain and Portugal with no issues, some have had issues setting up a direct debit with them but we use Starling Bank just the standard one and had no issues.
Used it for 24 days in Spain at Xmas just gone again with no issues, i have not used eurotoll but i wouldn't anyway as its not needed when this works.
My previous Sanef/emovis tag used to fail more times than it worked, always pressing the buzzer but this is like night and day.

Never ever had a problem with emovis but you do sometimes have to be right up to the barrier. 30kph lanes work a treat and best thing it's all in English and billed in £££££.

Never worked for me and i was within touching distance of the barriers, at first i thought it was the battery so had the tag replaced but still the same issues, since moving over to the Fulli tag not had an issue. Been using the fast lanes with no issues and all barriers to date have opened with no problem. Makes no difference being billed in Euro's as Starling dont charge you for it so essentially its seamless but if it works for you then no reason to change.(y)

same i think as both only charge you for the months you use it

Class 2 which is camping car or caravan etc etc, one other thing i find useful is having a 2nd tag for the car as it saves me remembering to transfer it from Motorhome to car which i used to forget frequently

We upgraded tag for 2023, works a treat now. Twice the price being class 4 though!! Went with Vrio, great service but has to go through a limited company

Fulli only do class 1, 2 & 5. Tag over 3m is a class 4
