I have an Adria Coral Supreme 2019 and have been advised by an authorised dealer that I should not carry 2 electric bikes on an external rear wall mounted bike rack. The bike rack I would buy claims it can carry up to 60kg, my 2 bikes would weigh about 55kg, so the rack is not the issue. The issue appears to be the construction of the vehicle. I would assume Adria construction is of a similar strength as most other brands. Has anyone else ever been told that electric bikes should only go in the garage and not on wall mounted bike racks?

We have exactly the same security arrangements and onboard Bosch e-bike features, along with the Vanbitz accessory alarm loop and a decent cover for when the bikes are on the Thule tow bar rack. Yes, we are mindful of the risks when travelling and also when out and about on the bikes, but at the end of the day they’re well insured via M&S - thanks for the tip Lenny HB ;) - so just get on with enjoying ourselves.

BTW, if anyone is interested I have an as new Thule EasyFold XT 2 bike folding and tipping, tow ball rack in the classifieds.

Try Gumtree to sell the Thule rack. I had put a Velocompact on here, didn't sell so put it on Gumtree and got twice what I paid for it. Originally got it on a price match with Tredz and interest free for a year; was £240 as Halfrauds used to run Bank Holiday deals on both May BH where the price dropped each time.

Have sold loads of Thule stuff on Gumtree over the years, always making more than purchase price. Easy Base, Back up box, aero bars, foot kits, bike carriers. Timed to meet seasonal demand and with a cheeky first line 'need a rack for the kids bikes on your near holiday you've forgotten to get...'

I get where you’re coming from but do you not leave your bikes unattended at some point. You can spend a lot of time worrying about something that most likely won’t happen. If you’re insured, which we are, what’s the issue? Our bikes, £6.5k, are on a rack as we haven’t got a garage. The only issue we have had is some one nicking the battery when parked up at a station, a higher risk park up which we accepted on the day.

Interestingly, our new Bosch powered bike has an engine which can be isolated, an alarm and a GPS tracker all in built. Additionally, from July they will roll out software to disable the battery and render it useless in any other bike. Pretty sure all these additional features can and will be overcome but I suppose they offer some more security which makes them think twice about nicking your bike.
We minimise the time the bikes are unattended whilst out on ides, either watching each others, or sitting where we can see them and usually use a simple lock. If you think your insurance will cover theft, just have a look at the conditions; many specify Sold Secure Gold locks secured to a fixed anchor.

Those that steal bikes most probably won’t have read the specifications of the new Bosch systems, and would still attempt to steal them, probably damaging the rack and vehicle in the process.
BTW have you seen the adverts for the angle grinder resistant D-locks? The one where they have destroyed the bike frame in the process

Fiamma Bike racks can be cut with a metal hand saw or a hacksaw. 🚴🤔
Or, two screws very simply removed with an allen key.

(I think I could get the entire frame off, with bikes attached, in under 30 seconds with help from a tall assistant)
Hence, if you carry bikes (even in the garage), get an alarm loop fitted.

When out and about we lock ours up to an immovable object with a Sold Secure Gold lock. We then just leave them and have a stress free day out. I’m not sure what protection they provide as most tests show they only last 10-20 secs when attacked by an angle grinder. However that doesn’t matter as they are insured. I’m less concerned on the continent as there are so many e-Bikes the chances of ours being targeted are really low.

Once on the motorhome rack the same applies, Sold Gold Secure lock, batteries in the MH. I’ve confirmed with Admiral that a bike rack on a MH is classed as locked to an immovable object.

Not much more one can do other than not worry and have a great time. If the e-Bike is stolen there’s always a bike shop nearby, purchase new bike and the trip can just carry on as before.
