Don’t need a mains failure alarm would be a pain every time I disconnect to move. Hoever after swimbo left the fridge on 12v instead of auto when wilding in Scotland and flattened the leisure batteries overnight I hard wired an alarm on the 12v system set at 12.2 volts for peace of mind.

I’ve got one large and one small fletton,, never had a problem with either, and they both lay on the bed while traveling!

Ian ... we are talking heaters and cut offs .... not women! ;)

I have a little gizmo that sends us a SMS text message if the mains fails

Main reason for us using it is to know that the Air Con has gone off whilst we are out, say shopping, having our dog in the van

This could help if you have an spare android phone, I haven't used it but it appears to have the option of text message or audible notification..

I bought an external temperature sensor when Lidl where selling them £3.50 I thinkThe sensor dangles down above our water pump. If the heating goes off and the temp drops to low the alarm bleeps in the hab area.

It doesn't sense loss of 240v just low temp
But that's how frost damage occurs

The panel in our encore 255 has a bleeping noise when our power is cut, I would have thought it would be common for that to happen, guess not!
Agree, and would have thought that a model with a Truma boiler would have a 240v power lost alarm on the panel as does our Auto Sleeper PVC. Not much good if away from the van though as you would not hear it.

I have a 700w one, it's small & keeps my PVC warm when on EHU - it has a thermostat & is normally only set to about halfway

I have heard of people successfully using smaller 450w oil filled radiators in their Mohos

I'm sure someone will post on this thread how careful we have to be because they leak - there's a fair bit of paranoia on here about lots of things :)

Over the years I have had 5. A large 2KW which is used with a Thermostat Switch, to maintain 16C at all times when on the drive (as now) and one we keep in the M-H bathroom 600?w. The other 3 Smaller ones which are used for heating specific area`s of the Bungalow when the C-H is not in use. Only one has ever leaked. When I took it apart the seal around the element had gone. (I scrapped it). Some of the shielding and insulation in the "less expensive" end of the fan and convection heater market does however look a bit "fragile" to me.
