It was via a Lloyds Bank packaged account - I think it was AXA. But beware - they paid out well but the advertised support services (translators etc) were appalling. It may be they paid the excess partly in recognition of that.

Thanks. I don't use Lloyds and even if I did they may not provide the cover because of my age.It was via a Lloyds Bank packaged account - I think it was AXA. And that’s the issue with insurance companies I guess pre health conditions or age ramps up the costsThanks. I don't use Lloyds and even if I did they may not provide the cover because of my age.
I don't see that as surprising they are gambling on there not being a claim if the odds of a claim alter the premium will. And that’s the issue with insurance companies I guess pre health conditions or age ramps up the costs
Great. I can use a Kenyan hospital for freeI think it is fairly simple really. Firstly the arrangement with Europe was never going to go away. Most EU countries have finely honed systems for identifying people from other countries and ensuring that the cost of their treatment is claimed back from the country in which they reside. The UK is rubbish at this and consistently fails to claim these costs and has lost millions if not billions, to the advantage of the other countries. Why would they give that up?
Why Global? Because since Brexit we have been busy making trade deals with other countries and for the most part these include a reciprocal health cover arrangement. Long may it continue.
Most of the "New" Trade deals are just rollover of the previous trade deals we already had in place via our EU Membership for example Canada which has no reciprocal healthcare with the UK.I think it is fairly simple really. The travel insurance is the only reason we stay with Lloyds. It covers you up to 80, so we have another 8 years left.Thanks. I don't use Lloyds and even if I did they may not provide the cover because of my age.
