I’ve no idea of what caused it. Resistor R26 burnt out before the fuse. Maybe that was cause and effect.Just a quick follow up on the problem , I sold the bike for spares or repair and the engineer who bought it has sent me pictures of the damage he found. It’s a mess but means nothing to me but might to you electricians. I have no idea what might have caused it .

It could be a common fault or you were unlucky.
The pics are very handy - to some one.
