hi,

Okay, so we cant get fly due to fog (Ryanair managed to fly out of Manchester !)

So we have sat at the Airport from 1:30pm and nobody told us the flight was cancelled.

We were then told to leave the airport. No information on replacement flights, just given a mobile telephone number for DHL
handling.

We have just got home and no information or help.

No flights available until 31st

Nothing changed, happened to us in Southend airport when "Beast from the east" hit, left sat in airport departures for 4 hours then staff in wh Smiths told us nothing else was leaving that day. Then security just chucked us out of airport.

This is why we have motorhomes 😄
Not always practical obviously!

We were lucky yesterday. We caught the 4.30pm out of Glasgow to Bristol but later flights were cancelled according to one of our sons. Driving home over the Mendips was no fun I can tell you but I didn’t fancy the long way round down the M5 as people can be daft and I couldn’t tell if there was fog that way as well.

Ot is amazing that in these days of instant communication, whenever something like this happens, there's no information given to the people who pay for the service 😡

It's bad that communication isn't better but imagine the reaction to an announcement of " we don't think it's that safe but we're going to give it a go if anyone is interested"! As for preferring to travel by motorhome not always practical and of course for the same distance no where near as safe .

Now maybe I’ve got this wrong.

I was told years ago these planes can take off and land without pilot input.
Given that once airborne the planes fly on auto pilot, what’s the issue here??

Perhaps the people of Ukraine and Gaza could say a little prayer for you EuroTrotters

Maybe even have a whip round :xwink:
Something that pains me every day. Every day I turn the news on and I hear that innocent people, including children and babies are being blown apart.

I am noted for saying when people are having a moan, “think yourself lucky you don’t live in the Ukraine or Gaza”.

As a father and grandfather, the people of not just The Ukraine and Gaza, but many other people in the world.

Many people just have a news blackout, like one of my son-in-laws. But I educate his children, our grandchildren on the real world.

However, there is nothing I can do to change that . I am not responsible for these wars.

Where I am heading, there are plenty of men and women from the Ukraine who have fled their country, or should I say deserted their country. Driving around in high end motors and being funded by European countries without being means tested.

I don’t wish to take any risks traveling. I understand the logistics of flying. If we can’t take off, fair enough. But don’t treat paying customers like crap.

First world problems you may be thinking monzer ?. But take a look at some of the other threads on here !

I agree with a lot of that but think that the lesson I would be explaining to my grandchildren is the futility of war driven largely by people being persuaded that other people are less human than them. In actual fact thinking about it I wouldn't explain that to my grandchildren if their father wanted me to do otherwise what right would I have to go against his wishes.

He doesn’t object. He just doesn’t like to be the one to explain. Otherwise, I might, comply

I think there’s nothing worse than telling someone when they’re upset or worried about something to think of all the people worse off than them. You’ve just added more guilt and they’ve almost certainly thought of them already. I think it’s an incredibly heartless response.

Often they just want a bit of kindness, empathy themselves, a bit of a break. Not some smug thoughtless remark. Of course an EasyJet flight being cancelled might not be the end of the world but it might seem like it sometimes .

If ours had been cancelled on Sunday morning going up to Glasgow when we’d just heard Coral had fractured her femur in 2 places in a freak accident it would have felt like the end of the world for a minute. Knowing me I would have then driven from Dorset despite us not having slept with the worry , not really wise.

Be a bit sympathethetic.

Thank you for that

Been through worse. We were deported from Spain with negative covid tests fornot being European citizens from the next day. That’s was when my mother - in - law died

EasyJet was horrendous to deal with when we didn’t get our hire car booked through them last autumn , after spending in excess of 10 hours on it, I simply put a claim in through our credit card provider, sorted pronto👍
